Play whatever you like and have fun. Titan Quest skill tree mixing and matching is part of the fun of it, though I will say if you guys are playing with the expansion, the dream tree is good with about anything.

I like Dream + Earth, personally. However, experimenting with masteries for yourself is a big part of what makes it fun so you should probably just choose whatever sounds more fun to you. And you should play it with expansion, cause it makes it a better game.

And what resolution is this game played in? I was pissed off that sacred was stuck at 800 rezo and so couldn't play it.

Never understood the attraction of being a munchkin. Diablo 1 felt like a great game because of the scary enemies and the creepy levels. Diablo 2 looked and felt like a grinding chore, and so do all of its clones. These games feed on the exact same human hoarding instincts that make mmorpg's so popular and I can't stand those either.

If you play it, make sure you get the unofficial fan patch from titanquest.net. It fixes a bunch of stuff.

My only problem with this otherwise very enjoyable game is that the worlds just seem too small for the scope it is supposed to cover. Also it is apparent that after Greece landscape quality declined. Babylon was a letdown, and Egypt/China felt rushed. It's still fun though.

I suppose any. Up to 1280x1024 on my monitor.

It's better than Diablo 2 in some respects. I like being able to respec your character, and having an in-game ability to mule items between characters is nice. The item fever isn't as good though, the monster variety isn't as good, and the acts last way too long.

Still the best non-Diablo action RPG though.

wow, general gaming.

anyhow, picked this up in the steam sale (with expansion) was wondering whether its worth playing vanilla, or should I go straight for immortal throne?

As everyone's saying dream's the way to go, and dreams only in immortal throne, i guess it may be the option?

You can use dream in vanilla when you have the xpac installed. No reason not to play from the beginning.

Definitely install Immortal Throne. The promise of a fancy artifact you can put together if a boar drops just... one... more... hide will make your TQ experience much more enjoyable. I really hope Blizzard will rip off TQ artifacts.

I thought it was fun, definitely one of the better diablo clones out there. Dream is an incredibly overpowered tree, so install Immortal Throne from the beginning if you want to use it.

There are also mods available that let you tweak the number of items dropped, and the relative item quality. I personally played with the following adjustments: no "broken" (grey) items, +5 items found in chests, x3 chance of uniques dropped from monsters. It made lewtz a bit more interesting.

That definitely strikes the loot whore in me as intrigued. Is this one mod or several? Do you recall the name of the mod(s)?

The huge number of items in DII is also about builds customization.

Actually getting decent items (uniques etc.) in DII isn't that hard because of magic finding and bos/pit runs.

All of the mods mentioned are integrated into a program called TQ Defiler. It lets you do other things too, like give yourself maximum inventory and storage space, edit character files, etc. Website: http://tq.soulseekkor.com/.

Another program I thought indispensable was TQVault. I don't have the website handy, but Google should turn it up, or else the titanquest.net forums. This program lets you store loot you find in the game in offline "vaults," that you can create and organize as you see fit. More tools for the incorrigible loot whore, myself included. Have fun!

The infamous Brigand. Yes, they are supposed to be particularly nasty. Hunting is an overpowered mastery all on its own. Try combining it with Dream (the "haruspex" build) for something wicked as well.

Only in PvP. Piercing damage resistance is relatively difficult to increase, which is why combining two masteries specializing in dealing it is so damn effective. They aren't all that great in single player, however, because of the lack of AoE attacks.

What do you guys see in that game?

It is a boring version of diablo 2 which was pretty fucking boring in itself.
