The fact that it will be standalone was discussed back when they first announced it.

See i checked the rpgwatch article, checked their site's announcement, and even checked gothic 3's wikipedia and only the rpgdot.com snippet mentioned it being standalone.

Only one mention by the guy who's working on the community-patches that it's stand-alone. Nothing else mentioned it...

Well hopefully that's not the case, but eh live and see. Thanks for the link - I'm surprised i missed it, it was fairly recent for that matter.

Oddly enough no-one seems to know for sure who is actually developing it - folk at RPG Watch are speculating that JoWood has an internal team who is doing it, rather than it being worked on by either Piranha or Spellbound.

Thank you sir, that's disheartening though. I guess the issues with gothic 3 will remain as they are.

You shouldn't expect much else from JoWood. "Half-assed" is their main policy when it comes to play testing and patching.
