Weston, CT - March 16, 2005 - Got Game Entertainment LLC and co-publisher Merscom LLC today announced that "Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition" for the PC has gone gold. The North American gold master of this combat-oriented and story-driven RPG includes several improvements over its European release, including a new map feature, faster load time, and improved memory and inventory management. Retailing for $29.99 (USD) and rated "M" for Mature by the ESRB for Blood and Violence, "Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition" was developed by 3D People in association with Chris Bateman and his International Hobo team, and is scheduled to arrive on store shelves April 7, 2005.

"Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition" casts you as the Inquisitor, assigned to stamp out the last remnants of religion. In a world where God is dead and religion heresy, you must decide your own morality. With a story-driven narrative in a morally-reactive world, your choices have consequences, taking the meaning of good and evil to a new level, and taking you to one of six different endings. The dynamic world changes as allies, enemies, and story all adapt to your actions.

Set in isometric view for ease of exploration, "Heretic Kingdoms: The Inquisition" features approximately 50 beautifully rendered locations and more than 30 monsters, each with its own habitat. Game mechanics for healing, combat, and treasure create fluid, engaging gameplay. Over 100 attunements let you customize your character skills and abilities, or develop your own character classes, to prepare for over 50 quests with multiple outcomes.

What releases has this game already had?
I thought there was a UK release, but if that was the case, normally there would be some copies floating around the commonwealth. And i have seen squat. Cue Volournesque hissy fit re: local unavailabality.

Hopefully a US relaese will open up the eyes of local distibutors and I might be able to buy it in a legitmate manner.
I want this game. Give it to me you fuckers!!

Exituim, you have my congratulations as the literary the best game journalist.
It actually took you about a month to pick up the news.
Remind me if I meet you to buy you some beer.

It's not out in the UK - but is being distributed around mainland Europe, by a Dutch publisher. I had to use E-bay to get it myself.

It's been in the shops for months around here (The Netherlands). Didn't sell shit so you can now find it in bargain bins everywhere for around 9 euro. Thought it was okayish, if you dig diablo style games.

To be fair to Exitium, that particular press release is new, even if the news itself isn't.

Kult is an action game in the Diablo mould but it's one of the better ones, IMO. I'm pretty sure it sold OK in Europe (I know the publisher is reasonably satisfied) but it would have been the lack of a big brand name and marketing that hurt it more than anything else.

Yeah, I think previous news was that it was coming to the US, but the dates were slightly different, and also this new announcement points out that it has now "gone gold".

I've been playing this game on and off for a week and I am really enjoying it. It's a class action cRPG. It looks slightly budget, but there is still a certain degree of polish. I suppose what I am trying to say is it doesn't have the annoying repetitive cheapness of games like Sacred and Diablo 2, even though it is a similar formula.

I am a speedy Earth-attuned poison-bow wielding archer.

It was released for free today as a bundle with a gaming mag here in Portugal... might get it since the other cd they give away has the Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich demo.

A short Diablo-like game but with a nice attunement-system and decent storyline with narrated cutscenes. Too bad the European retail version of the game was bugged as hell (and remained so for the most after two patches).

I guess Americans got the luck on their side now to have a more polished version.

The only bug I still experience with the patched version is the sound click that comes out of my left speaker every time a sound effect in the game plays. It happens after 15 minutes of gameplay or so, and it's a little annoying because the click is high pitched and abrupt. It's got nothing to do with my speakers or sound card as far as I can tell. Just a memory leak issue with the game itself.
