Meh. For all what we have seen in the Tech Demo, the Jefferson engine really looked ugly and clunky (yes I know it was never meant to go public). Some of the planned feautures very over-ambigious too, like the multiplayer, the RtwP/TB system and so on, and so on.
The team was also shrinking, with first MCA, then JES on the helm - I think he would've "ruined" some of the stuff MCA has made up before, just like I don't agree with Sawyer on many Design aspects of New Vegas.
Ultimatively, it wouldn't have aged well, on the contrary to the beautiful 2d Icewind Dale which is still amazing to look (and hear) at.
