IGN got their hands on Dragon Age in a "<a href="http://au.pc.ign.com/articles/101/1012687p1.html">first glimpse inside BioWare's long-awaited fantasy RPG</a>". Just in case all those other glimpses haven't been enough for you yet. They discuss life as a Human nob:
<br>
<blockquote>The game's title takes its name from the fact that there are six distinct prologues that you can choose from, and each can set up repercussions that echo throughout the rest of the game. Many RPGs will let you create different characters, but they all follow the same narrative more or less. In Dragon Age, the choice of prologue is just the first of many choices that will shape the experience.
<br>
<br>
We've been playing around with the origin stories in Dragon Age and it's kind of staggering at how complex and flexible the entire story is. The origin story you choose plays a big role, but after that there are many life and death decisions being made that affect the course of your game. It's safe to say that you could probably play the game several times and you'd have a remarkably different experience in terms of companion characters and story each time. Over the next few weeks we're going to highlight three of the origin stories, starting today with the human nobles.

<br>
Human mages are an entirely different origins story, which means that they have a different starting point and plot. Not surprising, but the character creation system is built off of the one found in Mass Effect
<br>
[...]
<br>
The dialogue system is similar to Mass Effect's, though the interface is different.
<br>

<br>
After the initial conversation you get your first character companion, your loyal warhound that you get to name yourself.

RPGs have come so far, yet still have so far left to go.

The different backstories and beginnings depending on class sound interesting.
I liked the idea of different opening scenes in TOEE, for example, but there it lasts only 2 min and it is just a different explanation for how you reach the first town.

Let's hope they actually count for something in DA, though.

Wow, in the beginning they sound like DA actually manages to pull off C&C better than any storydriven RPG before and then they follow up with the worst info on the game yet...

Will Molymaniac sue them?

What is it with devs and dogs? I mean if they have to put in a pet why not a cat, or a lion or panther or something.

Why a fucking dog?

I just started playing Arcanum for the first time, and quite frankly I'm disappointed at the lack of a Mass Effect style dialogue system. I'm glad that we now use this sterling piece of art as a basis for other games.

I think they mean the part about adjusting the character's appearance and such.

Fuck if I know. Might have something to do with motherfucking 15000 years of humans and dogs living together.

And they're actually useful(unlike fucking worthless cats) and not retardedly dangerous(like lions or motherfucking panthers).

Yeah, why dogs? It is a goddamn mystery.

There's also a new German tutorial video, they really should have more videos like this in English.

It shows a shitty consolestyle inventory. But the voiceactor for the TUTORIAL VIDEO is a professional voice actor...

There's advantages and disadvantages to both list-based and grid-based iventories. Will have to try it in action to know for sure, but it seems at least decent. I wouldn't call it shitty.

It´s the same like Oblivion. A lot of scrolling down and shift between "categories". Totally unnecessary for a pc game with a mouse. This is a consolegame.

But at least there seems to be written descriptions for items and the world. And you can turn off the questcompass (but i´m not sure if the ingame description of the quests is enough to find the locations).

Sweet Raptor Jesus, when, how and why did Mass Effect become this industry standard or benchmark for RPGs?

It didn't - it isn't a RPG. Just like Dragon Age, though we still have newsposts about this new shit.
