Space Rangers 2 has gotten a pretty positive review at Loaded Inc. The usual Space Trader genre gripes are brought forward (lack of personality to each planet, main story not envolving enough, graphics not pixel-shaded and lightbloomed enough), but the reviewer still finds the game agreeable in moderation, and gives it a 7/10:
I have seen this formula before. Space Rangers is a game that tries to be everything by blending multiple genres and promising to be something "new." The reality here is that the game almost succeeds at putting a new quilt together for gamers. Unfortunately, in the end, the game grows tiresome and the initial infatuation you may feel will give way to the grim reality that you have played this before, even though it was not all at once. This game has a lot of potential to offer many hours of gameplay, but, ultimately, players probably will tire of it too quickly. There is just not enough of a story to push you to keep playing.
Expect a Codex review in a few weeks, if all goes well.

Meh, I like it. The story ain't that great, but the sheer variety of stuff to do and how to do it keeps me interested. It kinda reminds me of the sheer addiction I had for old pirates game.

Looking forward to reading it Astromarine. I'm considering ordering it from Singapore because they have it there for a pretty decent price and I can't find it anywhere else.

I don't think this reviewer spent much time with the game... I mean, he didn't even mention text quests, or the arcade-style gameplay when you enter a black hole, or prices that change dynamically, with other pilots' actions affecting them, or the fact that those other pilots aren't just fillers like in EV:Nova...

And the RTS part is his favourite

But hey, why spend more than a day with a non-AAA?

Yea, an other stupid review.
This game deserves nothing short of 9 of 10.
9.5 is more correct :). And only because nothing is perfect.
This one sums it up pretty well.
...
It may went a bit overboard in some things, I guess.
I mean, this guy will surely give it 11 out 10 :).
But anyway, it's one of more enjoyable games I've ever played, and completed it more then once (which does not happend often to be sure. Expecially given that this game is not so short).
Not too much in the story department, I guess... but heck, it's a space exploration/trading/etc, not an adveture game!
And some text quests are top-notch. Or at least pretty hilarious :).
