Mr. Darrah broadcasts to us from his Canadian corner in Ed Greenwood-style, in same time trying to imitate Tim Cain.

Personally, I think that, just like in music, such combinations are rarely successful, but maybe someone will find something interesting in it.

Why are AAA taking and longer and longer to make? We aren't getting any younger but the time between releases seems to be ever expanding.

Chapters:
0:00 Why so LONG?
0:15 They Don't
4:28 "Size"
8:16 The Fidelity Death Cult
11:08 The Team
14:35 Iteration
16:44 Delay Inception
18:23 Culture?
19:55 Because They Can
21:10 Opportunity for AA and Triple I

Developers are less competent than ever. Audiences and publishers demand better presentation than ever. Does that more or less cover it?

In his recent video, Mark Darrah said that an overly complicated plot in a video game is a bad idea. He emphasized that simplicity and familiar tropes are beneficial because most players don't care much about the storyline anyway.

This perspective is incredibly disappointing, as I've always been drawn to rich, multi-layered narratives with deeper meanings. I thought the RPG genre was meant to be for players like me ;(
I wish people were more deeply involved in a story, so the developers didn't have to oversimplify things.

It's weapons grade copium. Players didn't care much about BioWare stories because they sucked, so his takeaway is that players don't care about stories in general (meanwhile story was the primary thing keeping people engaged with The Witcher 3 and it sold 40 bazillion copies).

While I do agree there is strength in having a simple plot, I do contest the notion that people don't care about the storyline or that the storyline can't have depth. It's just the matter of telling your story well. It is the same thing with prose: if you can't write well, at least keep it short. But when someone can write well, then he doesn't have to stick to "keep it short" rule.

Not to mention that you can add depth to the story through background stuff while retaining an otherwise simple and straightforward plot. Those that don't care about it can choose to ignore (or be filtered by) it while others can appreciate the added nuances.

Did Concord REALLY cost 400 Million Dollars? REALLY?! Is it even possible? It I POSSIBLE but i it PROBABLE? Let's carve through the math.

Chapters:
0:00 400 Million Dollars?!
0:55 Version 1
3:50 Staffing Ramp
7:24 Version 2 (with 100% more shenanigans)
11:34 Fully Loaded Staff Month During Surge
12:37 So DID IT? MAYBE
14:00 Going Late is EXPENSIVE
