With the release of Mysteries of Westgate on the horizon, a Spanish-based Neverwinter Nights community, Neverwinteros, was able to obtain a pre-release copy of Mysteries of Westgate from Ossian Studios. They posted some short impressions here. If your Spanish skills aren't exactly up to snuff, however, there is also a slightly rough English translation available over yonder.

And the truth is that it isn’t easy to live in Westgate not even find the typical quest of “bring my lost pants back”. All the plots fit into the adventure and that makes you think twice (or three, four times) before making a decision on your conversations. In addition to be looking a so charming and exhausting landscape of the city of Westgate (and what is not really Westgate ;)). Three unusual companions (each of them more paranoid than the other) will follow us through the adventure with their weird problems, the dialogs of each NPC in Westgate are also noticeable…. and I don’t understand why my character hasn’t lost his sanity for the moment.

Choices and consequences? Insanity-inducing NPCs or a tense setting and atmosphere? Trouser bandits?

Am I the only person who thinks the plot is unimaginably, well... unimaginitive?

It's like they took the concept from MotB and thought 'How can we make this as uninteresting as possible?'

When did it originally start development? Anyway, there'll have to be some pretty great impressions/reviews before I'll even think of buying this and re-installing NWN2.

For those familiar with FR and in particular with the Lords of Darkness sourcebook, Westgate/Night Masks lore is probably the most interesting in the Realms. Let's hope they got it right even in the limited scale an adventure pack dictates.

Allegedly, they were developing their plot in parallel to MotB - they had even set it in Rashamen, and changed it after MotB's announcement.
Which is believable. I don't think they'd voluntarily make a plot that's so similar to MotB.

Definitely agree, there is some good lore hidden on the Forgotten Realms, most people don't know about it because you have to read a lot and dig deep to find most of it, and its not used in computer games. From Old Empires,Calimshan, Lantan, Halruaa, City of Shade, Anauroch, Great Glacier, Thay, Narfell, Hordelands, Kara Tur (OrientalAdventures), Zakhara (Arabian Nights setting), even the Moonshae Isles (United Kingdom during Viking raids), the list goes on...
There was even supplements describing playing in ancient times when Illefarn, Netheril etc. were at their height.

For those interested, the release should be fairly soon. Distribution sites have gotten it, and some of them are ready for the release. Others are not quite ready, but expected to be soon. Hopefully this week will see the release.
