A report at Gamer's Hell states that i-Deal Games (JA2: Wildfire) has just signed with Zuxxez, the creators and publishers of the Earth 2150 series and upcoming Earth 2160 to release an upgraded version of Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire in Europe. No news on whether they have found a US publisher with Strategy First having screwed them over the last time, but things are looking pretty bright for the game.

I-Deal Games has optimized the original engine for an improved graphics resolution and has integrated new features: the simultaneous deployment of 10 instead of 6 mercenaries possible, a higher realism factor, 230 new or reworked sectors, all weapons and explosives have been newly balanced with absolutely authentic characteristics and many more. We remind you that i-Deal Games announced last month that it terminated its relationship with Strategy First Inc. in July 2004 because the canadian company fulfilled none of it's obligation of contract and paid no single cent to i-Deal Games for the product which sales are counted in several hundred thousands USD.

Great game and the graphics update is welcome, but JA2/JA2WF has been seriously done to death at this stage. Its been done, raped to death and raped after death.

Good call, i didnt know that but a quick googling shows "Thomas Alan Waits was born on the eighth anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was born on December 7, 1949 in Pomona, California." So happy birthday if your reading this Tom.

Given that they have a real publisher that's actually going to pay them (as opposed to a scam artist that doesn't) I'd say that the game will be a lot more polished than the Wildfire they released some time back.

I don't see what is so special about the screenshots. I'm not expecting anything but trash from this. The last Wildfire was crap, the supposed sequels were vapour. I expect that I'll be back to JA2 Gold after finding out how poor this one will be, though I really do wish there was a decent add-on or sequel. I never did like the Unfinished Business add-on either.

Well, hopefully this game will contain JA2 as well as Wildfire. I might not like to play it with all the weapons/campaign modifications installed. Just the resolution and updated graphics would make me happy.

Well, I guess I can count on having to Import this. The only way I think that it would be possible (A US release) is if Strategy First sold Jagged Alliance to another, hopefully better publisher.

Strategy First filed for Chapter 11 protection which I think is very bad news. All I've heard so far is Romuldas Arm's version of the story. He's also using that as an excuse not to release any more patches for his buggy mod.

What I do know about is I-Deal past history where they were scamming by trying to evade copyright laws. Before they went with SF they were selling "memberships" to their "club" so you could get the password's to download Wildfire and Guerilla Warfare as it was known at the time. More than one person has theorized that it may have come down to make a deal with SF or be sued once SF obtained the rights to JA.

If you go over Bearpit's there's a link to the 800x600 mod by "S-Vertal and the Russian mod community". http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/ubb/ulti ... 5;t=000852

Strategy First are filling for Chapter 11?
Is this for sure, since the last I had heard on them was that they were thinking on filling for bankruptsy, for reasons unclear to me, and nor actually being dead.
I think this is not true, since if it was, we would have heard - another small NA publisher biting the dust is huge news, and SF definately have some nice licenses to sell, including Wizardry, Jagged Alliance and Disciples.

Think you need to fire up a search engine or check the news archives here. Yes SF has filed for Chapter 11.

The way I understand Ch. 11 isn't the end of the world, it lets them get the creditors off their back and have a chance at getting things working again. I'd hate to see go under too. They have a few good titles and some good "clones" but what really sells them to me is that they support their products with multiple patches. Beats the 1 token patch approach a lot of companies are taking.
