Released 2 day ago. Posted this on bioware forums:
Dungeon Cleaners 2 a.k.a. Planet Alcatraz came out today. It's dumbed down sequel to dungeon cleaners 1 which wasn't published outside my country due to large amount of dialog to translate and lots of politically incorrect humour. It is tactical party based RPG. I.e. another attempt to create fallout1&2-like game. It's not a sandbox but it is also non-linear. There are situations where you have to choose between factions so not all quests can be completed in first playthrough. Also there are some mutually exclusive party members which adds to replayability. Good music, especially track in final mission, I listened to it for several hours after I finished game :D
Some cons. Dated graphics even worse than DAO. Not much interaction with party members, quests are lower quality than in old RPGs, main story is not as good as in ME or BG some balance issues(probably fixed in English version) Another problem with main quest that at one point it's not clear what to do next. Though if you pay close attention to hints that people tell to you it's not a big issue.
If you don't know what to play in one month left before DAO then you can try this game :)
PS As old school RPG fan despite all its flaws I still liked this game more than fallout 3 or drakensang.
PPS For those of you who don't like sidequests there is NG+/godmode i.e. your main character starts at max level so you can kill all your enemies in first town with knife only :D
PPPS Some screens from russian version
I'm not sure that it's Dungeon Cleaners 2 now. AG.ru says that it is sequel while people on forums say that it is original(and screenshots on official website are from 1st game too)

Is there any form of English translation available for the original DC? I supposed not since my google magic has revealed nothing, but I have to ask anyway.

I worked on QA and localization of this game for Potatoland. We did hell lot of a job on it, but it ended up never being released I believe. Or was it sold to some gaming mag after I quit the job? Not sure.

This game suffers from a typical Russian quality. It's bugged to all hell, including game breaking bugs such as infinite dialogue loops. But compared to today's standards of western retail games it's quite and old-school crpg, with tons of customization, dialogues, branching quests and different ways to achieve your goals. Lots of content too. The combat is pretty standard fare RTwP popamole unfortunately, but you get a team to control and some of the encounters are pretty demanding.

The biggest pro of this game and the source of all the charm and fun times we had working on it is the fact that it is funny as all fuck and at the same tame extremely offensive to pretty much everyone and everything. Gays, blacks, trannies, men, women, chinks, animals, doctors, soldiers, nazis. It's also batshit crazy so you get quest like helping Romeo and Juliet, where Romeo and Juliet are two white trash looking homos that are executed by mafia in the end. Most of the game's content ended up as our internal memes, especially Amamba - a nigger who wore only some sneakers and red trunks who you could get as a slave and he would follow you, dancing some stupid dance when you were fighting for your life.

The bad news is that all of the above concerns the version we worked on - which is Potato translation + Russian voice overs. When we got the EN version later it turned out to be atrocious and not nearly as funny. The official EN version also supposedly has tons of content cut.

An RPG for rednecks and chavs. Too bad most of the target auditory would be left wondering, "WTF, I, like, click on the enemy to hit him but there is no attack? also, what's a 'pause'?"

The version you tried probably has translation in a pretty good shape actually.

The strings in the lockit were all over the place initially (meaning no context or even continuity of dialogue for translators) so the first builds were really funny - I actually consider them to be the real deal, the later, fixed versions are decline. Also, the original Russian voice overs were absolutely brilliant, especially a guy pretending to have a Chinese accent in the quest with ostrich hunt.

Also

An RPG for Russians

Fixed for accuracy.

You mean... http://muve.pl/digital/role-playing-rpg/planet-alcatraz-pc-digital/3934 - is a cut version? It does have weight 2,7 GiB after all. I wonder, why they don't publish/sell a translated version in their own store. Which company worked on the translation?

Like I said I really don't know which version finally got released in Potatoland because I quit before it did. The one you're linking seems to be EN only which is pretty strange as we pretty much finished Polish localization before I left. It was done by Cenega loc department (now qloc, though kloc is much more fitting), like all 1C games. And since it's EN only there's a big chance of it having the more offensive content cut.

Well, I just know that the protagonist will randomly call people ''mutant'' just like saying idiot. It's supposed to be an insult or something.

And I put several hours in the game, until some giant bugs will one-hit kill my team.

I see... Well, that is a Cenega shop, so I wonder... but, yeah, it seems they just selling a repackaged (without obligatory cd-check) English version. If you browse through 1C catalog, some of games - A.i.M's, Koung's, Borderzone - are English versions, and some - Dawn of Magic, Star Wolves, You are Empty or Vivisector (that crazy Serious Sam clone...) are "natived" for natives pleasure.

Ps. Oh my, they selling Septtera Core and Hellforces, too. We live in strange times...

Volunteering? :M

ufffffffffffff. Not anytime soon.

I was planning of doing some halfassed (that would be abandoned) lp of some silly game.

I had several candidates:

Planet Potato, for the lulz.

Bonecraft (Cleve's space sex fantasies)

FFX-2 The most stupid game I ever played

Or maybe another porn game full of awkard retarded shit. I'm playing Kamidori Alchemist Meister right now. In one particulary weird non-porn scene the protagonist (a total anti-Rance) licks the nectar coming from the butt of a male ''dryad'' that has just reached puberty, just for scientific curiosity. And he defowers a mud elemental who was subconsciously designed after his mother (that's once the elemntal ''evolves'', in it's original form looked like one of prosper's turd elementals ).

But i'm not Lping anything right now. if someone was to LP those games, feel free to it.

So i am playing this now and noticed that in the english version it got diversified, black people became white and some white ones became black. It really lost a lot of its uniqueness and charm. Is there a mod or something where you could play the old game with the english translation?
