I beat this recently, and it's good. *Very* good. Sadly, I couldn't see the ending sequence. The 1.10 version which is supplied by GoG - suffers from a black screen crash if you use the Scroll of Return; there were a couple of other bugs too. Ah well. No awesome ending cinematic for me! Anyways, the Ravenloft games turned out to be pretty amazing. They've had positive everlasting impressions on me. Love em' a bunch. I think what I adore the most about the two games, is the music. Holy crap! The music is awesome sauce! I thought Strahd's Possession was great. Stone Prophet just blows it all away! Take a listen to these tracks:
The other awesome thing is the dungeons - by the grace of Ra, are they excellent! There was never a dull moment in exploring them. The biggest highlight for me, has got to be the Royal Burial Hall. Just look at it! It's a freaking mega dungeon! By the ever loving grace of Ra! Just look at it! An hour it took for me to map the whole thing!
Some screenies of the awesomeness of Stone Prophet!
Cool, huh?! Out of the two Ravenloft games. What is your favorite? Stone Prophet is my favorite. It's a beautiful glimmering gem of magnificence. It improved upon Strahd's Possession in every way. Except in combat. Stone Prophet's combat is much worse than its predecessor. Attacking things is clunky. In Strahd's Possession you got immediate feedback when you hit an enemy. Here, if you click on an enemy, you don't get feedback. Sometimes you don't get anything. Therefore you can't determine if the enemy is taking damage! Not too bad though. If you enable double click. You can left click the enemies to death!

If you are looking to play these games. Here are some tips to get you started! In the Ravenloft games. You create two characters. With NPCs joining you later. You can have up to four members in a party. Here's the thing, those two characters you created, will have an inherent experience advantage over the companion NPCs. As they will be with you from start to finish. This basically means they will be overleveld compared to the NPC companions. Therefore, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to run it with a two man party.
If you're going to be playing Strahd's Possession. I highly recommend having a cleric with you. The undead, were and other abhorrent creatures you will go up against. Tend to inflict nasty effects. Having a cleric who can get rid of those aliments - is super helpful! Clerics can cast buffs too, which is great. Though, do be noted, there is no way to get rid of negative levels. Vampires have a chance to steal experience from you, permanently! Best way of combating such creatures is having high AC and Protection from Negative Plane; though this isn't a sure fire way to defend against them. I've had situations where I lost levels even with Protection from Negative Plane. In the end, reloading is better than losing levels.
While you won't come across any were or vampire creatures in Stone Prophet. You'll still need a cleric for the stupid water drinking mechanic, as clerics can cast the create water spell. In regards to the water drinking mechanic, be forewarned; the game will, at times, force you to rest much longer than necessary. Indeed, I once had my party get killed instantly all because the game bugged out and forced me to rest for over one hundred days - that happens a lot, in my playthrough I got caught in a resting loop of death! Having more characters also means more people who need to drink! Therefore it is recommended to stick to a two man party in Stone Prophet. Another thing is that you will have to deal with getting poisoned a lot in Stone Prophet. Having a cleric who can cast neutralize poison is nice. Don't forge to stock up on Keoghtom’s Ointments; they're life savers!
Last but most assuredly not least, If you need help figuring out what classes to play with. I suggest Fighter/Cleric/Mage (it's the goddamned swiss army knife) Fighter/Cleric, and Paladin (Lay on Hands is fantastic!). One last thing. Strahd's Possession is mostly a low level campaign. I had my party cap out at around levels 6-8, though I had a four man party. I suspect you'd get more levels with running it in a two man party. Stone Prophet is a high level campaign. I had my party cap out at levels 18 - again, had a four man party in that one too. One trick you can do is beat Strahd's Possession then import the characters into Stone Prophet. Here's how - these instructions are for the GoG games. So plan accordingly!
