<strong>[ Game -> Preview ]</strong>
<p><a href="http://www.1up.com/" target="_self">1up.com</a> have a preview of <a href="http://www.riseoflegends.com" target="_self">Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends</a>, the sequel to the original and ever popular Rise of Nations. <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3146412&did=1" target="_self">Here's what they say</a>:</p>
<blockquote>
<p><span class="bodytext"><p>
Their world is every bit as entertaining as it looks like it would be.
And one of the first things you figure out about Rise of Legends is
that it doesn't take a drawn-out process to get to the good stuff. The
early part of the game moves along at much more brisk pace than the
traditional flow. Most of the emphasis is on what decisions you make
while building up, and how that in turn determines your strengths and
weaknesses.
</p><p>As the Vinci, for instance, at the Prototype Factory you'll
have a choice of three upgrades each time you add Industrial Districts
to your cities. Take the option for a clockwork miner and the next time
you gain upgrades you get one set of three new choices; take a scout
flyer instead and the next layer of upgrades will be completely
different. You also have the ability to build research labs that can
then be upgraded to a unique building available only once per map.
</p></span></p>
</blockquote>
<p><span class="bodytext"><p>You can wander over and <a href="http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3146412&did=1" target="_self">read the rest here</a>.
I personally found the original a tad too frenetic for my tastes but
fans of the series should look forward to weird monsters (no really, <a href="http://www.bighugegames.com/riseoflegends/gallery.html" target="_self">take a look at the screenshots</a>) and a game that "<em><span class="bodytext">could finally supplant Starcraft</span></em>".
