First off, they have moved to http://ufoai.sourceforge.net/ without anyr eal warning. I'd wondered for a while what happened to them.

I don't have time to play it, but it looks like they have finally made it into a full campaign, added interceptions like xcom, etc.

More like a full game, now.

But, reading the forums I am mixed. The quality was decent before, but they seem to make some goofy decisions. It's kind of like some of the dopier codexers got a say in some of the features, like there is a hard limit of 40 civilians getting killed ending the game on you, and I have seen some talk of some really goofy reaction fire ideas.

It would be nice if they could use a more updated engine, too, but that's not likely. Quake 2 doesn't support dynamic shadows so it kind of screws any plans for destructible environment.

I'm interested to see what people think of it before I get a chance to play. It was at least worth a play with the last update - hopefully this one will be as much better as it sounds.

I thought they stopped the ufoai.net address a long time ago, the main stuff has always been at sourceforge.

I'm gonna try it out tonight, I've mainly played at two versions ago (2.0?) and it was a lot of fun then.

I think they usually do have one, look on the forums perhaps. I'm downloading it with a download manager, just put the link into FlashGet or something.

Alright, thanks. I'm nearly half done downloading though, so I'll check if (when?) the download craps out.

About the civilians, apparently dead civies only count against you when you fail a mission or abort it. When you complete the mission all civies that died is not held against you. Though I could be mistaken or have misread something.

Regardless, it's still nice.
