I never understand the willingness of dumbasses to sign up for beta tests without pay.

Really, if you're actually doing the job, it's horribly tedious and you'll probably end up hating the game.

And, worst of all no pay excepting a copy of the hated game when it is released.

Mind you if they don't enforce actvity requirements ie: bug report quotas, you can have a great time with betas.

I gave up on beta testing. I'd rather wait and just play the fixed game. :)

I guess betatesting is nice if you're like me and can't fucking wait for the ame and want to play it ASAP. Plus, you get bragging rights, too ("Hey ladies, did you know I was a betatester for Paradox Interactive's Europa Universalis III?"). And it doesn't seem like you need quotas to fill. As long as your report back every so often with junk (i.e. Diplomacy needs a bit more tweaking, the game crashed my hard drive et cetera) you'll be good to go.

Or you can say that you were the beta tester for Hearts of Iron and Victoria and get kicked in the shins, no thanks, I had my fill of beta testing with those.

You where a beta tester for HOI? that was possibly the most bugged game I ever played. Victoria was at least quite stable, but the stuff with the pops didn't work that well, nor did some other things. The balance was the problem.

The best handle I've ever seen was "felchguzler82," and that was many years ago playing Dark Forces II online. The internet needs to try harder, because certainly there's another better name out there.
