  1. Game News NWN2 delayed

Hahaha, I was thinking the same thing. Still, it's good they realized that a 15 hour SP campaign was a serious problem for their audience. If they've taken time to fix that, I'll buy the game happily and hope for the best. If they are lying right now, I'll never buy anything from the company...
  2. Naked Lunch against the forces of evil

Jesus, if that isn't sig-worthy I don't know what is. Hahaha, more good stuff. That one brought tears to my eyes, it did.
  3. Sol Invictus strikes back

The Dirty Secret of the RPGCodex is this: Given the current state of PC RPGs, one has to talk about tubgirl or say nothing at all. There are only so many times one can lament Black Hounds or talk about the dialog in Torment.
  4. Vault Dweller and the nazification of the Codex

Why not: 1. Make a seperate forum for 'outre' humor and comments (damn gooks, immigrants, liberals, etc) - my name suggestion is 'Here There Be Tubgirls' 2. Make it visible only to registered posters. 3. Make the posts within not show up on the 'hot threads' main page. That way...
  5. What brought you into the fold?

Kult is fucking brilliant. Exceptionally fucking brilliant. Gotta love those Swedes: I'm happy they stopped drinking and committing suicide long enough to give us a brilliant PnP RPG. :D
  6. Wasteland vs Fallout

Man, I loved the fuck out of Mail Order Monsters. That (and Archon) were my non-Ultima C64 drugs of choice.
  7. Interview Drakensang interview at RPG Dot

He's right, we are a minority. A minority of people read Joyce and Yeats and listen to Bach and Glass and so forth and so on. *shrug* I just want someone to say, "Yay for people with good taste, we're going for that demographic.", not, "Yeah, we're doing Romeo and Juliette, but with...
  8. Interview NWN2: MCA interview at TVG

Hahaha, Messer Avelone will do just about anything to keep people from discussing the "20 hour - cuts" playtime. "Really, we have softcore porn monsters that are also valuable to the mod community!" MCA, I know you are reading this. For shame. Ah, well, hate the sin but love the sinner...
  9. Why does Codex think NWN2 will [insert negative adjective]?

Despite Gromnir's faux-barbarian (man, that schtick never gets old!) hyperbole, I'm always excited when I new RPG comes along. Hope springs eternal. And despite the fact that NWN1 was an awful, awful game, I was actually pretty excited about NWN2. Until I heard about 20 hours of gameplay...
  10. What brought you into the fold?

Basic D&D to AD&D to Star Frontiers/Gamma World/Boot Hill/etc. to ADVENTURE! for the Atari to Dungeons and Dragons for the Intellivision to Ultima II for the Commodore, then the rest of the Ultimas... and onward through the Gold Boxes and beyond!
  11. RPG Codex and Quarter To Three

How sad. I used to respect Desslock - back in the pre-blog days when Usenet reigned supreme, he was one of the only sources of intelligent RPG criticism. It's too bad he's "progressed" into mind-numbing reactive fanboism in much the same way that RPGs are "progressing" into Oblivionism.
  12. Company News Bethesda: Games must evolve & grow!

This just simply isn't true. A great many tabletop games - and a vast majority of the best of them - have dumped levelling altogether, and some have dumped gross character progression, too. That doesn't mean the characters lack resolution. In, say, a Shadowrun game that I ran years ago, I...
  13. Vampire Issues/Advice

I'm pleasantly surprised how often Bloodlines threads come up here, considering the lambasting the game got upon release. All told, it's a high quality RPG. Does the final 10% descend into combat-heavy suckiness? Yes, but it's hardly alone in that regard, and as for bugs, there are far less...
  14. Mod News Oblivion Piratey Cove official mod from Bethesda

Yes, meant to type 'punctuation', typed 'capitalization'. Posting while tired is not a good thing.
  15. Mod News Oblivion Piratey Cove official mod from Bethesda

To talk about capitalization a bit more (a subject much more interesting than Oblivion): When I mentioned to Samuel Delany that, much to my chagrin, I had discovered that the British do not use the serial comma, he agreed and replied, "Yes, I was once asked to provide a quote for a book that...
