  1. New Final Fantasy 13 trailer

If it makes you feel any better, I'd hit the guy, too. With a shovel.
  2. Farewell Blizzard! We knew thee well!

So, what did the real full Starcraft cost ten years ago? $80? $90? Adjust for inflation, and that seems about right. It's also supposed to be a larger game than SC1 (with a proper SP campaign this time around).
  3. Shadow Complex

Is it really coming to PC? I mean, with MS and Epic being involved, that doesn't seem likely. I haven't heard any announcements of the sort, either. Challenge 51 in BC:R was even more of a bastard, I'd say. I think that was even toned down a bit because it stumped the Japanese QA team...
  4. Development Info Diablo III item drops will encourage trading

I thought the question was about the creation of said sprites? If they were created by animating 3D models then capturing them at a specific times and angles, then yeah, that does matter. Because, you know, the point was that that takes more effort, as opposed to animating 3D models and making...
  5. Development Info Diablo III item drops will encourage trading

Relevance? The contested argument was that it took lots more effort to create D2's animations, not that they took up more space.
  6. Development Info Diablo III item drops will encourage trading

Might as well just post an image macro, if you're not going to bother to make a point.
  7. Development Info Diablo III item drops will encourage trading

It's a 2D image. How does that imply that it needs to be hand-drawn, though? Take a 3D model, render it from 8 viewpoints, and there you go, you've got your sprites. Which is what Diablo, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, etc. did, as far as I know.

So, what exactly did they render to get those sprites? Sure, they might've touched up the results afterwards, but it sure looks to me they were using 3D models as the base at the very least.
  9. Development Info Diablo III item drops will encourage trading

    Diablo 2 used pre-rendered sprites i.e. 3D models, didn't it?
  10. The Escapist Hates Stats In RPGs

Not in NEXGEN IMMERSIVE FPS games. No need for a health bar when regenerating bullet wounds is much more immersive, anyway.
  11. I-War 2 is amazing

Full title is Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos. Haven't played a whole lot of games in the genre, but it's my favourite space ship simulator from what I have played. It's one half of the reason I'm getting a proper HOTAS, actually. Your thrusters are always exposed, shields don't cover that...
  12. Best Managerial Business Sim Games?

Is the absence of Anno 1404 intentional? I've not played its prequels, so I don't know how it compares to them, but it's quite nice.
  13. No LAN in my StarCraft 2

Isn't there a separate tutorial mode now, anyway?
  14. No LAN in my StarCraft 2

Feel free to pick up the SC2 BattleChest when it comes out in 2012. Or how about a more coherent storyline where the perspective doesn't have to shift every couple missions, just because they must use all races in a single game? SC1 didn't have a long-term metagame or much non-linearity on...
  15. No LAN in my StarCraft 2

If I'm not mistaken, Karune is Dustin Browder, SC2 lead designer. As for his post, the critical part is this: "We would not take out LAN if we did not feel we could offer players something better." The problem is that they can't. What exactly are they offering to people who want to play on a...
