ArmA2 editor is awesome.

One can design tactical squad shooter missions in it.
One can make first-person RTS missions in it complete with base building and resources.
One can create stealth missions that take into account light sources and noises.

But sometimes one can just start making videos.
In order of their awesomeness:

From something like this

To this, where some parts look almost like CGI (and almost no post-filters):

And finally one gorgeous video to rule them all, even if you don't like ArmA - check it out:

I don't understand why everyone has such a boner for the A-10. It's just a slow bomb caddy built to a budget with a giant gatling gun.

I learned that ARMA II has too much bloom, that explosions look like shit and that making interesting videos is clearly beyond the grasp of most ARMA II players. Thanks.

The ArmAII editor is indeed fucking awesome. I started on it a few weeks ago, hoping to make a few missions for the coop community I play with, so am still only doing the basics (objectives, coping with JIP, extraction/insertion).

The guys I play with do loads of crazy things with it, though, that make my head spin. Different death cam systems, improved AI, IED disarming and an amazing little training program that lets one of the players act as a GM, dynamically dropping any object/enemy etc. into the game, on the fly, to create mini missions.

I bet the psychological effect of hearing that gatling gun is a motherfucker.
Lol. Actually, if you're hit, you'll never hear the sound of the GAU-8/A. You can clearly see that in those vids. So much for a psychological effect

Yeah, i didn't even miss the "particularly" bit. Like there are any fucking chances of surviving a hit from a 30mm anti-tank gatling gun. Anyway, i woudn't care about the sound the gun makes if it always comes second. When you hear it, it actually means you're still fucking alive

Give me your example of a good fan made video then?

And i'm not even trying. The vids you posted are pretty banal, shit, boring.

Are you serious?
There is an epic music playing like there is ITZ going on but... nothing happens and it shows people standing doing barely anything. What?

Then at the very end of the video they attack a few ships with crappy camera angles. And that's it.

Maybe you should try next time?

SH5 has no built-in video editor, so that's all the guy could do in-game. It's fucking hard to get good angles with everything moving around and shit. It's still better than your Arma vids, because it shows the actual gameplay, not some random AN-2 flying around carelessly in a goddamn military sim... The music fits the video perfectly, so don't give me that "lololol epic music" bullshit. What would you expect? Iron Maiden?

These are better, but propably will bore you to death if you're not into sub sims. The dude's got talent, and actually manages to make something interesting instead of your typical "lets show some random shooting and badass exploshunz" crap.

It's not like you raised the bar that high.

In my case video makers know what "camera work" means at least.
Show me your bar.

ArmA2 doesn't have it either.

You are right. I can't even imagine what it took those guys, whose videos I posted, to capture all that action. More than filming static ships moving nowhere in the sea that's for sure.

It's still better than your Arma vids, because it shows the actual gameplay
And videos I posted clearly show pre-rendered CGI.

What's wrong with AN-2 flying carelessly above a peaceful map?

ITT I learn that good military game videos are about overly dramatic music playing while people stand still doing barely anything and ships passing slowly for 6-7 minutes.

Skyway, ArmA looks like an awesome game. I'd buy it propably, if I was still playing computer games that is.

Stop posting those videos. They are pointless and boring.
