all I've done is a simple CSS class on all posted images so their width is no larger than 400px.

Ok, so the limit of pictures is around this size:

Fullview_emperor-horus.jpg

Which is like 1/3 of my screen size. I have an average screen size.

DU, you say that ITS and LP threads have lost impact - the solution is simple.

Increase the limit to 800-1000 px. That is around 2 times the current size but still not enough to b0rk the page horizontally, and small enough for any small-screened computers.

What do you think?

Some people are upset they can't fuck up threads anymore by posting big-ass shitty pictures. How sad.
They can now fuck up threads by posting big-ass shity pictures that wobble around when someone passes their cursor over them.

Epic win.
Also, scrolling through the fanfic/pornography infested page with scroll wheel has never been so fun before. :P
At work: Scroll down, quickly, oh no.. ZOOM

Just make it so that users have to supply the link to the bigger picture if they really want people to see it, just like ImageShack currently works already.

A limit of 400px (i.e. thumbnail size) sounds fine too.

Not really. It's just some people are...

BAWING

...too much.

That is all.

Also,

I think I made my point.

Huh? An image flood like that might previously have fucked up a thread a lot worse. Now I just have to keep the cursor away from them while scrolling past. What's wrong with that?

Actually, the best solution would be to use a forum software which doesn't suck so much. For instance, vBulletin has solved the image problem in a very elegant way: It resizes *just* the reply with the oversized image but keeps the remaining posts the same width as your browser window. In other words: A single oversized reply does not affect the width of the remaining replies. I'll try to find an example.

EDIT:

I dug up an example. Some of the pictures in the linked thread exceed my monitor's width of 1440 pixels but replies with smaller images are not affected.

Yeah, that's on the cards. I'm poking around with an interim solution though because that's still quite some time off.

Hhmm... That would resolve the WhiskyWolf dilemma shown above. It'll mean fucking around with the template for a bit though. I'll see what I can do.
