Conflict: Omega by VoodooFusion Studios, is a new MMORPG in development, set in a post-apocalyptic world, and aims to be an RPG, FPS, and RT, all in one. A small tidbit from their FAQ:

What kind of advanced features does CONFLICT:Omega have?

CONFLICT:Omega has a lot of the features one expects with fantasy based MMORPGs, but in C:O, it’s the players who determine their place in the world. This game has territorial conquest, politics, diplomacy, combat warfare, and more. Follow a path of your own.

Also, we are integrating the features of an RTS into the game play so that officers can manage resources for the entire clan.

Anyone interested, head to their site. They also have some of those things called a forum.

Still, there seems to be some Fallout whoring on the process (a trend that has Carsten Strhese of Silver Style as its latest spokesperson): according to this post by GameDev over at NMA, the game is apparently loosely based on Fallout, and, quote, "plans to live up to the Fallout legacy".

Name whoring? Bait tactics to reach fans strung out for anything similar to Fallout? Teh messiah? Discuss!

Behind you.
I just always love it when something drops the name "Fallout" these days - especially when it's everything Fallout wasn't.

Any updates on this one? Doesnt seem to have progressed much.

You know, it's just even more ironic that you post that, when you are the "lead developer" and only developer to have seen all three teams come and go with the previous incarnations of the game/engine. I liked this spamming of Vault52.net and how you have 15-30 people, as if you either can't remember or can't fully come up with a real number of people.

BRILLIANT! (About as brilliant as "bio-borg". So...aside from ripping off common nomenclature in an astoundingly lame way, where does the "cybernetic" fit in there? "Biological Organism" just sounds retarded when you're discussing cybernetic organisms (cyborg for short, or rather, for the accountants on the short bus), and to think they would possibly call themselves something so illogical...unless you are just ripping off Star Trek's own rather lame way of naming a race.)

Rosh appears to be on a rampage ... he did bother to dig up old treads for the sole purpose of going after DarkSign.

You know, for many years I belived the Internet run on porn ... I was wrong, it runs on drama.

Over there.
Huh.

See, this where the oft-misguided "get a fucking life" would have huge relevance.

What can I say...he likes me.

Wow. He really dug that out of obscurity. Fun.

I just thought it was an ironic point to your incessant jabs over here (really, you seem to enjoy bringing it up whenever it suits you to the point where others tell me you're still sulking and licking your wounds here, so fair play), tolerant of vaporware as these folks are (if only for a chuckle), especially in regards to your first post here. I thought it was particularly comical given what you have posted and in light of your continuing prolonged crap about doing something with your game and your site, and the claims you have made about it in the past.

Really, why deprive the good RPGCodex readership from reading the idiotic shit you spew to sell your game? A nugget:

Think of our game like this:

Fallout and DeusEx had a love child. It got a job as Shadowbane, but married a really interesting chick that was made from Planetside and Carmageddon. Their kid grew up playing DefJam Vendetta, but reading Oblivion and watching TV shows about Prince of Persia, Tomb Raider and SplinterCell.

That's just the beginning. :)

...

Good thing we already have 1000+ hours of code using Torque ;) and have had a stable team for over a year's time.

Riiight. Is this the same team or the new one from the time you spammed this onto the NMA forums, claiming it was Fallout-inspired and all that crap?

Ive spent over 3 years developing this and have a 75 page game design document covering every aspect of the game. Of course input is always welcomed.

Funny, on NMA, you claimed you sent in a 250 page abbreviated design document to Epic that they just joygasmed over. Now it's down to 75 about a year later. Now either something got cut, or the new facelift you're giving your site is little more than a sad crutch to otherwise feebly boost the half dozen people watching this vaporware title. Gotta love news items that only get two to three digits of interest for a MMOG release. Even Dawn had more over less time, and you've been going for three years now? Even Herve would have figured out enough is enough by now.

Glad you're having fun at my expense Rosshy. By all means, keep going.

It doesn't bother you that at any point you might be held accountable for any or all of your claims, especially when/if ever the game becomes invested property?

Beautiful thinking and fantastic integrity, but then again, you're the one who spammed this onto my forum claiming it was Fallout inspired and then had to ask what made up Fallout.

They are both vapourware.

You are aware Darksign that if you're game is ever finished it will be completely different then your extensive feature list (dictionary entry of feature creep).

Focus on doing one key element better then the rest, good luck controling lag for a massive FPS with cars and custom appearances.

If I had a good team for a year I could probably get a conversative beta out. That is how the numerous smaller groups continue to make great niche games.

Shepardizing caselaw with the F5 button.
Feature creep presupposes that either a) the elements are non-essential b) they were added over time (usually due to a "isnt that cool" mentality) or c) both.

It's definitely something to keep in mind, although arguably we feel that the features havent creeped in. There's certainly a hierarchy of what's most important and what could be left out, but that hierarchy can be managed with an eye towards figuring out what we can realistically do.

As far as lag goes, see the thread on MMO costs for some slight discussion of bandwidth possibilities. Of course bandwidth is only part of the equation. There's avg user computing power, optinmal database architecture, the engine itself...and other considerations.

Nah. We're not vapourware, but we are taking longer than we should.

It doesn't matter when they were added. Trying to get everything prefect at the same time is a recipe for failure.

Do you even have screenshots yet? With what you want in, it looks like 5+ more years. Are you paying your team? Do you have any great talents? How are you living?

How did you form your team?

Nah. We're not vapourware, but we are taking longer than we should.

Which when expanded, is what vapourware is.

Release the most important element polished (which should be different and better then what is out there already) and then you can do expansion packs.

Why don't you keep your website in your sig, what was it again?
