Czech game "Inquisitor" - ever heard of it?

I have been playing this (rogue, just started Act II) and I like it a lot. The game looks nice, generally has good atmosphere, and is fun. Combat is meh (not to bothered by some of the worse aspects of it so far because I am an archer and let my 3 meat shields do the potion chug while I stay mostly out of danger, respawns haven't bothered me too much so far).

One question though, I have been playing good (mostly), but I seem to notice what appear to be some evilish choices around and was wondering if that is an actual path? Can you actually align with the heretics? Or do you just become the asshole inquisitor that does dickish things, but still thwarts evil?

End of Act II, you get to choose whether or not you wish to side with the Cult and bring about the return of the Daemon Prince of Hell.

I have a little technical problem with it.

For some reason it can't display the intro or any of the cinematics, it just goes windowed blank white screen

I (don't) know (empirically) that you're not an idiot, so forgive the bluntness of my question:

Have you right clicked and chosen to run the desktop exe as administrator?

Have you tried running in compatability for an older version of windows?

Have you made sure the game is running in an acceptable resolution, your native may be too large for the game to run?

I had gfx errors when starting up until I ran it as an administrator from desktop, similar to yours, and that fixed it. Otherwise, might be an incompatability with your system, so you might be better off posting on gog forums to ask there.

How can you burn paladin?

Which one?

Ethien de Pasque? If so, you need to find his amulet, hint: Tinthan is innocent; you need to arrest the first conspirator, he gives up the second conspirator, hint: both have Eye-talyan sounding names; you then need to confront him with the evidence from the second conspirator and arrest him.

Where is Tinthan? I have to speak with him to be promoted Templar Master cause asshole I arrested won't brake under tortures. (Tried them all several times and no dice. : x)

Wasteland north-eastern corner

BTW, this is exactly what I was talking about when I said that torture is pointless.

It is one Proof less you need to found and with commoners you need just two. :smug:

One witness shall not rise up against any man, whatsoever the sin or wickedness be: but in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall stand.

As Scriptures say in Deuteronomy 19:15. :obviously:

So far I Suspect whole secular government and half of Church and Brotherhood for heresy... This shit is great.... aside from combat part.

Actually no it is not. Investigation doesn't work like an investigation at all - it's you walking about the town questioning random people until they decide to tell you something. No crime scene, no actual witnesses - just fetching quests and running blindly around. True detective/inquisitorial work, alright. On the top of that we have torturing that just doesn't work...

I like the intrigue they put there but the game does so much to undermine it that it boggles my mind.

No Crime Scene? and Where did you found Dagger and Body in chapter one? You even have your own payed informers (beggars) and experts (local toxigolists wisewomen), asking around people if they seen something suspect activity in hood is big part of any police work... thanks for tip, due to testimony of one eyed man (yes it was indeed pointed out in my accusation speech  ) another heretic scum was just burned to Crisp. :salute:

And this was done in totally believeable in normal fashion - grave exposed in the middle of graveyard FULL of walking dead (apparently they didn't get out of any graves or tombs), corpse lying out there in the mountains for days... And honestly - your detective work comes down to picking macguffin and off you go.

You even have your own payed informers (beggars) and experts (local toxigolists wisewomen), asking around people if they seen something suspect activity in hood is big part of any police work...

Rather, asking everyone and their dog. There's no logic to this, other than let's ask everyone with the name tag!! There isn't even real dialogue trees where you could press the suspect/witness into confessing. Hell, even torturing doesn't work. There are actually no RPG mechanics with any significance whatsoever on the only interesting part of the game (e.g. Arcanum or Fallouts would have shitloads of those). It's weak presentation, sorry. I've seen Japanese visual novels with greater interactivity in detective work than this.

My pleasure. :salute:

BTW, anyone else experiencing serious issues with cinematics? They basically lock the game and I have to use some magic to get around that.

So, I am considering getting this. I really like the screenies, and the setup seems nice (inquisition and all) but it's single character + real time. I don't want a potion spammer...unless it is really, really, really good and unique in other ways.

So some info would be nice:

-What's char gen like? Skill or Class based? If the later, what classes are there, and what sets them apart?
-What is the magic system like?
-Is there potion spamming?
-Can you be evil throughout the game?
-What do you get stat/system wise at level up?
-What's the max level in the game?
-Are there feats/talents/special abilities to mould your PC?

Read these 17 pages, all your questions were answered. 4 points for stats, and 4 different points for skill per level.

There are skills for all classes and skills class-specific. Furthermore, when it comes to magic, you will have to learn magic skills from spell-books (universal).

-What is the magic system like?

Generic, boring... with lots of wasted potential. You can learn spells from scrolls, but only if your skill, character and atribute level is high enough (magic schools are learned from spellbooks). There are also sign/pentacles, which woork like wands in your standard RPG.

The problem is this: generic mana system, with a HIGH chance for a spell to fail (except for signs, so stock up) EVEN if you play as a Priest (the magic-specialist), GLOBAL cooldowns on ALL spells and abilities (less significant in case of signs), many spells between schools overlap (those that do not can be quite useful and inventive), magic system encourages kiting.

-Is there potion spamming?

Like hell. Not even Diablo 1+2 has this level of potion spamming.

-Can you be evil throughout the game?

Yes and No. Your alignment comes into play only later in game.

-What do you get stat/system wise at level up?

4 attribute and 4 skill points. Attributes describe your Strength, Dexterity, Intelligence, Constitution and Speed. Skills are skills. The more of an expert in the skill you are the more skill points it costs do increase it.

-What's the max level in the game?

50, methinks.

-Are there feats/talents/special abilities to mould your PC?

There are, but most of them are quite useless in my experience.

Game is not half as frustrating when playing as noble... AKA Ranger Rogue. priest is lot of kiting at start and piss easy when you got your spells of Doom, and Paladin is lot of dying cause his anti magic protections don't work. 400 HP can go down to 0 in ten seconds when dazed, stunned etc... Great Idea but I played better NWN 1 Modules to honest. Combat is even faster and worse than in Arcanum with no TB option... and even Unique Golden gear has random stats.

Shame cause Idea, Setting and graphic style used is superb... and I do like well made Old style games.

Paladin
Priest
Impoverished Fallen noble. (Because they were stupid they called him thief, even if he has a higher title than knight.)

Or for retard.
Paladin - you will get right to enter treasury of local chapter house. You can have max melee and armor skills. Also he has enemy estimation skill, and repair skill.
Priest - free healing and other recovery in temple. You can have max magic skills and completely brutal skills that are important for magic. (Which are actually more important at high level than on low, you would have hard time on low level to cast anything and would need to use melee and bow as a support, or your companions when you seduce someone to go with you.) Wisdom helps with spell penetration a lot.
IFN - can recruit soldiers to help him when he would rise in rank. He has magic strike, and he can have max bow skills. Also only one that can disarm traps, and lockpick. Sweet smug fellow who would rob you anytime, he wont get his barony back otherwise.

What is the magic system like?
Six schools, half of them are better when you have one alignment.
-Is there potion spamming?
Only on your paladin in your party, and on your evil dog.

-Can you be evil throughout the game?
Yes you can be Good robber.
And you can be Evil honest person.

-What do you get stat/system wise at level up?
I already answered that. HP will NOT go up at level up, when you will not increase respective stat. Read tooltips.

What's the max level in the game?
Who knows, I seen some image with 70+.
Why should there be some max level, it's no a DnD 3.5e.

Are there feats/talents/special abilities to mould your PC?
You can choose your head.

Also expect MEMORY LEAK. I have it hitting 1.7 GB then kissing daisies. The prime hint is a red square on skill toolbar. After that save into different slot, or better quit game and grab the nearest autosave, depend how old is that autosave. It autosaves before every dialog, thus nothing important tend to be lost on crash.

Wow, sounds like an utterly shit game, save for the art style :(

Fuck it.

Also, they kinda seemed to have missed the point of being a Paladin. I mean, repair skill, for a Paladin? WTF? Also, Paladins are supposed to have mystical abilities, wat about that?

the dungeon under the cathedral, there's a new priest there you can talk to on middle path. it's a shit 3 level dungeon made of fail and faggotry. if you have hellhounds spell, use it copiously. if you have invisibility, use it. if your companions are liable to die under a rain of chain lightning, leave them at the door. i hated that dungeon. level 3 is fine because you switch back to undead, first 2 are made of fuck.

Swords in this game have quality lower than guns in F3... Be a good Smith or take 15 weapons into dungeons... Hey but in THIS GAME DJINS DO EXIST! GOTY! :bounce:

I broke one quest, because I didn't know that decapitator sword was a quest item, sold it and found the quest later.
Hmm.. Journal says that I should go and talk to that Levi guy, but the asshole doesn't want to talk to me, says he's busy.
I left him standing there and entered another boring as fuck dungeon. *sigh*
I will finish this game, no matter how shitty dungeons the developers throw at me.

I feel like a moron right now, but...

Where the hell is Devil's Cavern? I've cleared out every single area of act II and I can't find it.
