Just found this kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1464350149/faeria-strategy-card-game

Its basically a TCG and board game combined. The concept looks really interesting. Best thing: its not P2win, so no spending hundreds of dollars on booster packs just to compete.

Second best thing: you can pledge 15$ and try their beta immediately. So if you dont like it you can just cancel your pledge.

Some info:

''What if you were to reinvent Magic: the Gathering but had a board in the gameplay's foundations? In Faëria, your lands not only serve as a resource: your lands are the battlefield.

You no longer question yourself with binary choices like "Do I attack or not?” - Instead you have to deal with land placement, resource gathering, creature and structure positioning, and how to invest your action points every turn. The layout of your lands is essential to victory because each of your land is where you’re allowed to play your cards from your hand.

Creatures and structures interact with the lands given their types: certain creatures have more power on forests, others combat immunity on deserts, etc. Event cards let you destroy the terrain or reshape it, others let you teleport creatures. The terrain offers a layer of depth that opens up a stunning strategic dimension, something never seen before in the Tradable Card Game genre.''

I first posted this in the strategy forum. But then I saw this sub-forum, seems better suited here. Feel free to remove the thread in the strategy forums.

Is anyone still playing this? it seemed quite polished when I played it in early beta. The strategies are sound and it's a neat way of sidestepping the worn out dtcg concept ie. throw fucktons of money at the screen.

Played about 150 games, great game. currently taking a break though, will probably return when more features are implemented.

Edit: Codexers seem to more interested in casual mainstream non--innovative games like hearthstone and duel of the chamipons so dont expect many players here.

So I just saw this game finally hit steam (early acces). I tried it out again (have acces because I backed the game, early acces is 8 dollars I think now).

I still find the game really interesting, much more interesting than Hearthstone.

Here is a match to get an idea of what game is like (guy plays really slow though):

Also, IGN article here: http://www.ign.com/articles/2016/07/05/is-faeria-the-next-big-collectible-card-game

Compared to last time I played:

+ more polished and more features (ranked play, tournaments, solo missions, drafting mode)
+ more art filled in (less placeholders)
+ still very interesting to have a card game play out on a board with actual lands and positioning
- game is faster paced than before, playing control is harder
- still not a big community playing this
- partly B2P model, partly F2P (better would be F2P to create bigger community)

I suggest if you like card games you try this out, think some people here would really enjoy this game. It´s a lot deeper and more interesting than Hearthstone.
