Insert Title Here RPG Wokedex Codex Year of the Donut I'm very into cock and ball torture
RPG-Expert Bethesda does it again!

Fallout 3 will be the new RPG paragon all others have to compare themself to. The designers from Bethesda combine awe-inspiring graphics with an epic story that rivals even Oblivion. You thought they couldn't improve on that game? They did!

Read it all in the hot new review:

It must be said: one must try hard to remain objective in one's review - because Fallout 3 is just that remarkably good, clearly deserving the title of the best game ever made. It offers a huge, open-ended, complex and detailed role-playing experience that, unlike the dusty predecessors, is actually fun to play and beautiful to look at. Fallout 3 delivers - and then some, surpassing the weaknesses of Fallout and Fallout 2 and ending up as the hands-down better game.

First and foremost, the new hit is the most stunning technical achievement in a video game ever made- vibrant, crisp graphics evoke the feeling of true immersion as only the wizards from Bethesda can. You'll want to reach out and touch the monitor when you see the fear in a super-mutant's eyes. The creators of award-winning GOTY Oblivion managed, once again, to bring brilliance to the player - Fallout 3 succeeds in everything it wants to achieve, but its experience goes well beyond that, likely to leave your jaw hanging from beginning to end and having you beg for more.

Fallout 3 is the successor to the Fallout series from RPG-mastermind Todd Howard. But this time around the game fixes all the mistakes the antiquated classics had, resulting in a victorious ressurection of a forgotten franchise. The game puts the player into the shoes of a lone warrior in the wastelands, much like Fallout 1 and 2. This time, however, one truly feels a purpose: the player has to find his father (brilliantly voiced by Liam Neeson), battling the mindless Super Mutants - gigantic behemoths of evil - and making tough choices in the lawless wastes. But no matter if you play good or evil - you will soon find out that much, much darker powers are afoot in the Fallout universe and, in a masterfully crafted plot, only your character can save the world - or what is left of it.

Graphics
As noted before, Fallout 3 is the pinnacle of gaming when it comes to graphics - you will almost feel the hot desert winds of the wastes as you explore the lush and diverse environments, feasting your eyes on the rich textures and beautiful architecture of the ruined land. Our testers all agreed that they haven't seen a game this good-looking ever before - Bethesda really got their priorities straight and knew that only by excellent graphics an immersive RPG experience is created, so much unlike the boring brown and grey of Fallout 1 and 2. The gameworld is not only huge, but lavishly detailed - simply gorgeous.

Gameplay
Fallout 2 was a great game, everyone will agree. But Fallout 3 isn't just better -- it completely redefines the genre and the franchise! Fallout was known for its unique humour and its atmosphere - you could lose yourself in it exploring that wasteland, travelling, exploring, fighting. Fallout 3 offers all this-- and so much more in a massive, cohesive and highly immersive world. Using the revolutionary and ground-breaking VATS combat system, fending off the wasteland is easier and more user-friendly than it ever was - even if you are intimidated by the highly complex SPECIAL character system which was thankfully simplified you can just play combat as an FPS and still enjoy a vibrant RPG experience at its best. The battles are more fun than in any other game. Just to give an example of the highly-developed AI: an evil mutant was dodging our shots between old cars, dashing back and forth between their lovingly rendered metal carcasses and taking pot-shots at us - but not for long: we aimed for the tank of one of these cars and blew the mutant up, who exploded in a fountain of gore - it's touches like these that make the old-school RPG player smile because he knows that Bethesda, despite former fears, indeed stayed true to the spirit of Fallout 3. Combat aside, there's just so much to do in Fallout 3's huge, lavishly detailed world full of impressively deep NPCs and compelling stories just waiting to be told with all the gameplay elements - driving, shooting and sneaking - in perfect balance.

Rating
Fallout 3 just has everything a game needs. With its outstanding symphonic score, as well as excellent voice acting and sound effects, tremendous replay value, gorgeous graphics and beautiful execution, not to mention the zany, intelligent humour and the deep story, Bethesda created a game that everyone, RPG fan or not, needs tp play. Despite some minor flaws like the too complex and outdated character system, one can safely say Fallout 3 is one of the best games ever made. In fact, what's overwhelming about it is how good it is and how much there is to it. Literally almost everything that's ever been done well before in past role-playing games is in here--done even better. From the quality of the story and character interaction to the pure thrill of the combat to all the pleasure to be found in the game's little details-- the nuclear catapult, the exploding cars, the supermutants, the variety of guns--these things combine to make Fallout 3 one of the single best, longest-lasting gaming experiences to be had in a long time.

the biggest flaw of fallout was the lack of vehicles

hopefully they've addressed this, but I don't see it anywhere in the review and it makes me worried

It's sad but it actually looks like a "normal" FO3 preview.
Sad true about our cock-sucking journalists.

I only read this paragraph which is why I didn't realize it was a joke. "outdated character system" sounded exactly like something a game journalist would say.
