... and why?
Real time because when it was developed, it was tested in the real-time only. So the game isn't really balanced to be turn-based, not to mention that, despite the name, it's not a Fallout game. If you look at it as at some sort of post-nuclear Diablo-clone with a little bit more complex combat, it becomes much better experience than if you try to enjoy it as a Fallout game. Turn-based is just too grindy&boring here.

It's more like Commandos if anything, but Diablo?
^ snobbery? I don't even like the game, but it has nothing to with Diablo, while it uses the same basic elements of isometric realtime tactics that Commandos used.
I love the game and tried to replay it that way but it randomly crashed during missions and ruined the experience. Something to do with the game sounds I think. I got to the robots missions before finally letting go because I was fed up with restarting missons that were almost completed.First to have proper experience you need to take Fallout veteran mode or whatever it is called in character creation menu that limits saving only to your base and doubles XP rewards.
Turn on yer "Iron Man" mod and I'll see you play it real time. This is just stupid, really. You want action - pay action games, for Christ sake.
Finished the game several times in TB, occasionally switching to RT, just for experimental's sake. Never got bored with this game.Turn on yer "Iron Man" mod and I'll see you play it real time. This is just stupid, really. You want action - pay action games, for Christ sake.
I played it RT ironman. The game has plenty of tools to manage it IIRC (stealthing people into position then turning them on free fire, Rambo'ing around with your damage resistance maxed out via drugs, etc.). Even RT ironman gets too boring to finish around the third or fourth enemy faction switch though. It's way too long for what it's worth.
Yeah, Diablo. A simple action-RPG.
