More like someone deleted those ethical subroutines.

I have Shitaku blocked so I couldn't read it even if I wanted to.

And I myself have had it with the FnaF franchise - four games is good enough.

'Five Nights At Freddy's' Movie Director Talks Plot, Real Animatronics, Scott Cawthon's Role
"Five Nights At Freddy's" movie director Gil Kenan has revealed the animatronics he plans to use for his Warner Bros. film adaptation of the popular game series. He also talked about its plot and confirmed Scott Cawthon's involvement. The news comes to Design & Trend via Deadline as well as Kenan's Twitter account. While still busy promoting his work on the "Poltergeist" remake and "Monster House," the horror enthusiast shed some light on Freddy Fazbear's big screen debut. [...] First and foremost are two pictures of animatronic parts that will likely be a source of inspiration for the movie. From the photos, it's evident that Kenan plans to use actual animatronics rather than digitally creating them with CGI. He reaffirmed this belief by saying "Five Nights At Freddy's" will be "crazy practical" to make its characters feel as real and unnerving as humanly possible.

Eh, not sure what to think. I mean, animatronics are glorified mockups/giant puppets. What can they do to make them disturbing?

Ok, not too bad. I'll wait with interest.

It's interesting to see they're going with real animatronics, though I wonder if they can make them move fast enough.

One question: Who the hell saw a reason to scour a 1000-page thread to pick out every single FNaF-related post in it to combine them into a new thread?

I'm mostly curious about the banal futility of the act, seeing as the series will (allegedly) be running its course in about 6 weeks.

So, I know everyone is probably too busy playing/fapping to Age of Decadence and/or waiting for Roxor's review in order to criticize it, but for those few who aren't and like the FNAF series, Scott's webpage has been updated yet again, this time showing a spooky rabbit pumpkin thing. I bet it's DLC/more content for FNAF 4, because it's Halloween and all of that.

What are the odds that the FNAF RPG will be a better game than AoD?

You know what was missing this year, no? That's right!

That's right. Now FNAF... IN SPACE!! It seems the April's Fool joke was actually a hint of some sort. And it seems you finally will be able to move around (even though it will probably be an engine trick of some kind). On the other hand, the animatronics look so hilariously dangerous and hazardous that not even the average Umbrella wannabe corporation would want them. These moving parts scream DANGER! from a kilometer away. And they're so ugly that even blind children would stay the hell away from them.

They made me think "Gynoids meet Jason X".

Thinking that the craze was finally over, I checked on a couple of FnaF-clones a couple of months back. Best one I could find was "Five Nights at Candy's" which is seemingly based on a Cawthon animatronic design he scrapped.

But for those looking for FnaF games with Alien: Isolation-esque gameplay, check out the alpha builds for "The Joy of Creation".

I checked that. It certainly looks well-done but it is quite limited at the moment. Worse, the gameplay videos they have are with fucking Markiplier as the player, who continues to be an ugly retard who commits the same mistakes over and over.

(Mods: Since FnaF has more non-RPG games than RPG ones, would you kindly move this thread back to General Gaming?)

:necro:

This thing...just...won't...die.

But since it's still kicking, I might as well have a little fun with it.

FnaF: Sister Location came out earlier today, and I'm checking some live streams, and EVERYONE is stuck in one of two places: End of Night 3 or the start of Night 4.

Fnaf 5 differs from the previous games in that the prequels you were confined to one location and had to periodically check various systems to prevent the jump-scaring animatronics to get you. In this one you start in one central location and move between rooms, as dictated by "The Voice" who bosses you around and tells you where to go and what to do. But each room has a different mini-game associated with it, so you're never doing the same thing over and over again...until, that is, you reach the aforementioned places where everyone's stuck. ;)

But one other major difference is that Cawthon sprang some money for some voice actors. There's a female ballerina robot that WON'T STOP TALKING and then there's "The Voice". This guy seems to be your boss and has a few sentences here and there that might have been uttered by GLaDOS, but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is how the sounds. Remember the tutorial voices in Thief: The Dark Project and System Shock 2 (whom were both voiced by the same guy)? This voice is identical to those. And because of that, there are so many things about this game that remind me of segments from Thief and System Shock 2. Moving between locations is never as easy as walking from A to B. There's always something like "move through this room without making a sound or you'll wake the bad robot", or "you have to move through this room in the dark or the motion-sensitive robot will kill you", both which come straight from the Thief tutorial, while the bad robots all look just a couple of steps from the various robot baddies of System Shock 2. The mini-games range from FnaF-esque to bizarre to flat-out annoying...and it's the annoying sections that completely kill any entertainment value the game might have...as someone playing the game. But as someone watching streams of others playing, it's proving to be decent entertainment for me.

Is FNAF still a thing? You'd think all the 10-year-olds would have gotten bored and moved on to the next thing already.

It's still going strong if the Steam reviews are anything to go by. Look at all the kids losing their shit over this game. They think this is the best one yet.

These are somewhat of a guilty pleasure for me and after the very meh 4 I am surprised Sister Location is this good. It has actual production values.

No matter your opinion of the series this is basically the sequel people clamored for after 2. One that expands things dramatically and that he invested significant time, effort and money in.

Codex 2014 Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy
After having looked at some more streams and had some good lulz, I'm not quite sure where to place this game.

The first game just had the core gameplay element and nothing more, and the game told you two stories; the story fed to you via Phone Guy and the events that took place as you played, and then the backstory told through newspaper clippings and subtle visual cues. The second game introduced the retro mini-games to tell the backstory, but as more sequels were released the mini-games became more relevant and required to be completed properly to unlock secret endings, until it all culminated in Sister Location, where both stories are fed directly to the player simultaneously through a series of mini-games that aren't part of the intermission mini-games.

And that is why this game feels so much like a bizarre mod for Portal or Thief rather than a FnaF game. Instead of being constructed around a core game element, Sister Location goes all over the place in what it's asking of the player. Sneak around dark rooms, find tiny switches, an infuriating survival gauntlet for 3 minutes involving clicking on springlocks and then, if the player did the secret thingie, a bonus throwback FnaF1-section at the very end on nightmare-level difficulty.

Only Nights 2 and 5 actually manage to be somewhat scary, and AFAIK there are no further nights than 5...for once.

As for the lore? Either there is little-to-no connection to the other games, or people just haven't found the connection yet. The guy who built these animatronics is the same guy that built the "original" animatronics, though...and if you've read the book (ugh) you also know him by another name. (I just read the book spoilers online...I'm not THAT crazy to read a game novelization ever again.)

Conclusion? Meh. Markiplier's videos for Sister Location are being churned out at an alarming rate, most people are best served just watching those and be done with it.

Why would anyone watch Markiplier's videos tho?

His FnaF-videos are pretty much his Grade A-material (especially for the first two games) and are easily comparable to most cheesy sitcoms or reality TV shows. They are the reason he is one of the biggest YouTube stars around.

Ayup, there's a reason FNaF fan games include nods to him, or the Game Grumps call him up at 2 in the morning for advice how to advance a night.
