Forgotten but unbroken is a tactical turn-based action game inspired by legendary Xcom and Silent storm in its unique way. It's about real-life heroes and elite units of WW2 forgotten in time. Recruit your soldiers, ask for help from your allies and manage your hidden base.

Looks kinda yanky, but could be interesting. The Czech speaking characters sound kinda lulzy tbh fam, but I am sure most people wont mind.

Too bad about the apparent 2 AP system - new Silent Storm this is not. Still the base building and diplomacy (you can apparently choose to align your resistance group with the Western allies or with the USSR - I assume both will have some specific advantages) mechanics sound fairly cool. Wishlisted.

Yeah, it looks interesting, but why hasn't anyone re-created the Silent Storm level of destructible terrain?

Because they forgot about the delays it takes for steam to publish stuff they've dropped the playtest on itch.io in the meantime for you to download: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/2122090/view/3717201559849366386
Free Limited Playtest update!
Temporary solution while We are waiting for Steam playtest approval.
Hi guys.

Many of you have been asking about the free playtest and since we promised it, we have to keep it. At the moment we really don't know how much longer the approval process on Steam will take, so here's a temporary alternative. Itchio. Just download the demo, unpack it, and enjoy (dont worry about Windows 11 warning. It's just standard procedure for files this large.) In the meantime, We will be waiting for the Steam playtest approval.
Please keep in mind this is just an alpha playtest. More features and content is about to come.
If you like the demo, please consider backing us on our Kickstarter. Thank you.

If you want to wait for the Steam approval and play it on Steam, its totally ok. We just want to be honest with you and let you know what is going on. We really didnt expect the approval process wil take so long.

Meanwhile you can take a look what is "in the package" thanks to Zilla Blitz :)

Playtest was solid enough even without access to the character system, level ups, and a limited array of weaponry available.

Pros:
  • Full ap system which varied between the characters (only going to pop off multiple rounds with the two swiftest characters) so it probably changes as you level,
  • Grenades are useful despite their fairly short throwing range and not something you ignore,
  • The two available maps had useful features like an emplaced mg that could be used to damage everyone in fixed conical area for a low amount of damage and on the other a radio that could be used once to call in a random artillery barrage over a fixed area,
  • You could expend ap to improve your aim up to 20%,
  • The mission rewards hinted at an overarching campaign system/status with rewards like improved relations with the West or Russia and materials such as ammunition, medicine, and currency.
Cons:
  • It's not like Silent Storm with full building/cover destruction,
  • Enemies don't drop their gear for you to recover (faced off against enemies with STG 44s),
  • No fog of war (stealth or spotting) you know where enemies are at all times.
  • Playtest was two defensive battles obviously you could (and I did) push forward and flank at some point but it would have been interesting to see how the other half lives with an offensive battle involving you charging hunkered down enemies across a field of random cover.
Not implemented in the playtest:
  • Seems like at some point you'll have to muster and account for ammo but in this limited playtest the stuff was just infinite.
  • Healing.

Yep, its solid though I sure hope they will implement ammo and reloading. It has obviously a bit lower production values, but it certainly does have potential. Not sure I am gonna back this, but I sure hope the devs will be able to get it released with succesfull KS or without it.

Free playtest is over!
After 3 weeks of free playtest it's time to analyze the feedback.
Hello guys.

After 3 weeks the open playtest is over. Thank you to everyone who participated. Especially thanks to the Youtube streamers who made nice gameplay streams. We collected a lot of datas and now it's time to analyze it. What we can already say is that we are moving in the right direction regarding your feedback. 85% of all requested features will be gradually applied to the game. For us this is a clear message that we are moving in the right direction.

It is highly likely that we will do another playtest in the future. However, it will be for invited participants only this time. So please follow our social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Discord) and let us know if you are interested in participating.

We've also added two ways you can support us in our development. You can become our Honorable resistance supporter via our eshop (choose your tier and reward), or you can become our Patron on Patreon.

Forgotten but Unbroken is coming to Steamfest!
Steam next fest!
Hello guys.

Forgotten but Unbroken is taking part in the upcoming Steamfest from 9-16 October 2023. We will bring you a demo where you will be able to try out some new maps, but most importantly new game features and mechanics. Mechanics and features that affect and change the gameplay in a significant way. Those who tried our previous demo during the last free playtest will have a completely new gaming experience because of this .

We don't want to reveal more for now. But we will tell you more just before the Steamfest starts.
And we dont forget our patrons (supporters via Patreon) either. They will get access to the extended build after the Steamfest. There is still lot of „work in progress“ stuff, so it still needs some more time to make it ready for them.

Thank you all for your support and have a great day!
Good to see they are still working away on it.

With this name I thought it would have been about isolated Japanese soldiers still thinking the war was going on 10+ years later.

Played through the 3 mission demo.
-Full AP system, units have inventories, didn't get change to check if it's possible to loot dead enemies/allies.
-Somewhat braindead AI, who too often stays on open ground. Both enemies and units on player's side.
-Allied units seem to be fond of running into mines that player sets (though that one dude was French resistance who had somehow ended up in Lithuania).
-Demo's levels happened on Soviet union or adjacent regions, but player had motley crew of Pollacks, Englishmen, French etc. wielding stens or captured German rifles.
-Elite SS-troopers with Sturmgewehrs during Year of our Lord 1941.
-Machineguns are props that can only shoot to predetermined cone.
-Defensive missions has mine laying phase.
-Some morale mechanics are in game.
-Maybe campaign gives some much needed help for this.

It's more of a proof of concept, also alpha. There is a long road ahead for it.
