You're missing the point here. The problem with the "honest pirate" cult is that they actually have rules against buying stuff that can be gotten for free. Their "honesty" doesn't have any practical value when they don't buy anything from what they have copies, while a person that "makes excuses" bought as much or more than a person that doesn't pirate would.

I disagree. You see, I have quite a bit of abandonware (which is very legally dubious). I have no intention of paying for them, even when they're available from a site like GOG because I simply don't feel like it. However, I do buy games I feel are worth playing/buying and ignore a lot that I feel aren't. Can't paint everyone with the same brush.

Therefore you benefit from them without needing to give anything in exchange.

Awesome reading comprehension here. It's not about lack of money. Two monts ago I spent a small fortune on the most uncomfortable pair of boots I ever saw, because they are pretty as hell and really classy. It's about principles. Or the lack of principles.
