Just got MoTB - play OC first?

If you have the time, and don't dislike the OC so far, why not just finish it? If you're already bored with it than it's another story.

IMO, the OC is good enough for one walkthrough.

Don't fucking play it, masturbate instead. Now, someone's gonna come in and tell us how awesome it is, etc, then it's going to come down to a mixed opinion, and everyone's going to be useless. The truth is clear and should not be shielded : it sucks, don't play it, no mixed opinions

So basically you're suggesting I download some nudity mod and masterbate while playing it? I guess Neeska wouldn't be so bad if she had really big tits. Thanks for the tip!

Seriously though, I downloaded that A.I. mod lots have mentioned, has a nice array of options.

Started the OC, played it for 20 minutes, just clicking through the dialogue options, not even reading just skimming, before I couldn't take it anymore. I realized/remembered that both times I played it that first chapter was sooooo boring and slow that by the time the second Act rolls around the bad taste is already in your mouth even if things pick up. Started MoTB and already it feels significantly more interesting.

Thanks for all the opinions, I think I'll start with MoTB. I'll play through the OC eventually (really wasn't too bad after that dreadful first Act). I guess the experience was just still too fresh in my mind, I'll wait a few months when I have nothing to play - don't really see a whole lot of RPGs coming out this year. I think it's also the fact that I have MOTB there and it's NEW and thus making me anxious to play it.

I'm going to repurpose this topic, as there are already five of them.

I'm playing the OC with a self-buffing Favored Soul, and am getting sick of it. Is there any reason not to just make another char when starting MotB (assuming I finish the OC at all)? Is your armor worth it?

Also, will you hit the level 30 cap in MotB? What if you use a slow leveling race?

Codex 2012 PC RPG Website of the Year, 2015 Serpent in the Staglands Dead State Divinity: Original Sin Project: Eternity Wasteland 2 Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 BattleTech A Beautifully Desolate Campaign Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire Pathfinder: Kingmaker Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Isn't playing through the OC the only way of becoming a Neverwinter Nine?

Do the story feats (or whatever they are called) you get in the OC, like Dragon Slayer, have any impact on MotB?

Nope, they're just for decoration.

Class feats like NWN Nine and Shadow thief of Amn can be gained through some character creator mod, or I suspect one could just add it through the console. I also think one of the "class pack" mods removes requirements of having to play through the OC to get the feats.

Just use Vordan's Hero Creator when making a new character for MotB. Pick up the stuff you'd get and off you go.

So, would making a Tiefling screw up MotB stat checks because I'd be a lower level?

Please do not play the NWN2 OC. It's an interactive movie about an incredible boring story.
But now I am confused, I believed always the NWN1 OC was the worst crpg ever, but now I am not sure...

That's a pretty baseless accusation. NWN 2 OC doesn't really deserve the poo flinging that it gets on the Codex. My opinion is that a single bad aspect, perhaps the generic nature of the opening of the game, overrode all of the positive elements of the game(and there are plenty). Yes, the huge annoying dungeons speak simply of amateur design but aside from that the game is better than say KotOR 1 or JE.

I think NWN2 is actually pretty decent, despite some annoyances. The forced companions, especially Shandra, can really be a drag.

The storyline, companion-wise and because of being knighted and given a keep and such, doesn't really make sense for an evil character. I finally did an evil playthrough recently and it just seemed ridiculous that Shandra can one minute talk about how much she hates me and Bishop and the next cry about how much we've been through together. It's also silly that I'm going around murdering random people yet Casavir follows blindly. And being deferred to as "the leader" is just silly. Like Bishop, Casavir, and Khelgar are just going to do whatever a weakling female wizard tells them to.

The evil ending is pretty cool, though.

However, if you play through as a good character or lawful character or whatever, the forced plot doesn't seem as ridiculous and once you don't have to put up with Shandra's whining anymore it's a lot better.

If you import your character, you'll start two levels higher.

I didn't hit the level cap on my first playthrough until after the final boss fight- and that was with a normal-levelling race and an import character.
