The whole point of fashion is for a bunch of smart men to make dumb sheep stand in huge queues to get the same new shit as everyone else.

The problem with this horse is that it's only $25, anyone can afford one. Blizzard needs to release another horse at $250 to allow the cool kids to stand out, and maybe even one at $2500 to really separate the ritz from the riff-raff.

Is this a thinly veiled insult or a profound and subtle commentary on society? Discuss!!!

Actually many Asian MMOs have been like this for a long long time.

It's not that the players are "stupid" either, when you think that the majority of people love fashion. There's a more fitting word for it, what's it called?

sheeple

People don't stand in huge queues to buy the same same dress/pants/shirt because that would be stupid. Fashion is all about wearing something that nobody else has so that you are unique.

I know that two people already commented on this, but damn, wtf

the whole thing about fashion is that a model is stated as the cool one and everyone dresses the same to stay inside the cool circle

Hey. It could be worse. Think about all these people who work (grind) tens of hours in game to get various stuff.

Generally speaking though the paycheck your receive through 'irl grinding' will cover more than the cost of the mount whereas grinding in game won't get you anything but said mount.

:codexrage:

Not really. The whole point about fashion is that a style is stated as the cool one and everyone dresses along those lines to stay inside the cool circle. One of the pleasures of going out in fashionable circles is that everyone isn't dressed the same way, but very diferently while staying inside the same general lines as everyone is trying to one up everyone else for attention and their share of the spot light. It rewards creativity inside general lines, is not the same sheeple behaviour normals and commoners have to appearance at all.

I wonder how people rationalize their horse purchase.

The same way they rationalize spending 12+ hours a day playing a game.
