The reasons why PotC is still getting modded is because
a) scripting is less restricted than Coas afaik
b) the scripters were modding the game for a longer time before Coas came out and never really left PotC (maybe because so much modding was needed for the game)
c) porting e.g. New Horizons to Coas would take way too long and would be very difficult because of a)
d) PotC was probably the biggest commercial success and sold the most. And it can still gather interest because of the movies even wohout being commercially available. (Coas isn't available either anymore. It was for a few years on gamersgate)

Still wish PotC would get ported to Coas or the new one that's already available for russkies.

Playing Coas or PotC can be a lot of fun but you have to save constantly when playing quests.
In Coas quests can break from time to time I heard (but never experienced by myself, haven't played that much).
In PotC quests are pretty stable now but the game can crash more often, especially when you just made some progress like successful boarding.... Another reason you want to save in PotC a lot is because a lot of new content happens random/luckbased and can fuck you up pretty harsh (tavern brawls could break actual quests / ruin your reputation / pickpocketers steal all you money and getting it back can ruin your reputation and the like)

Ships abandoned? Pirate's already dead in the water?
Pretty much. Two game-breaking bugs killed my patience for the LP.
LPing PotC or Coas isn't an easy task I guess because a lot can happen and break the game or the flow of the LP.
