There's nothing in Before The Storm that's on par withKate's subplot, the assisted suicide scene with Chloe or the final choice.
For me it was...
...finding Rachel's body. I don't remember that many powerful emotional moments in BtS except for Chloe coming across her dad's car at junkyard.
Most of the drama in BtS did not land with me because the character development was so rushed that it felt unearned. The worst part was probably when Elliot went psycho because Chloe was hanging out with Rachel too much AKA like a week. Nevermind the fact that his character was barely a factor in the story until that point. So you don't get his feelings of betrayal properly established.
Yeah, his whole character felt rehashed, like they wanted a dark version of Warren. Didn't really fit the story while making it more formulaic and his action didn't make any sense.
I did like that D&D scene, though.
Since they put a lot of effort into that one, might've as well let us roll instead of it being predetermined. Would make the whole thing 2x better, just like that.
One of the biggest problems with Before the Storm is how it retroactively fucked up character relationships.
In the original game Frank was introduced as a "villain" but through the episodes you find out he's not a bad guy (or not, depending how you play it out). In BtS Frank takes a knife for the girls, saves Rachel, Rachel's mom and Chloe (repeatedly) and ends up killing his "friend" to help them. Deck Nine went too far with turning Frank into a hero and fucked up consistency. Chloe's attitude toward Frank in the original should be different then. She probably wouldn't fuck him over and plan to steal his money so she can run away with Rachel even tho she can be pretty selfish
btw did anyone like the Farewell episode? I was initially looking forward to the return of Ashly and Hannah but I ended up hating everything about it.
