Here's an interesting article.

I knew about most of the games discussed, but I never knew about Hecatomb. The idea sounds cool if not a bit lofty perhaps. I really miss the Hexen universe

That Armalion looked good. Mmm ravaging warband of 40 characters plundering and murdering their way through a fantasy gameworld. Good idea for a game.

On 2 December 2008, Atari stated in a press conference that the Baldur’s Gate series (among others) would be revisited after 2009

I already see on the horizon. Look! Everyone saying that Baldur's Gate III is a Dragon Age clone!

About Van Buren...
Black Isle Studios planned to include a dual combat system in the game that allowed for the player to choose real time or turn-based combat, due to Interplay's demands, though Josh Sawyer had stated that the emphasis would be on the turn-based version. Co-operative multiplayer was also going to be included in the game, again because of publisher requirements.
Heh, so it would've been like Arcanum in 3D. With not only horrible combat, but ugly low poly graphics too. And probably just as buggy as well, since their QA sucked ass.

Thank god we got proper Fallout 3 from Bethesda.

The first is an okay Diablo clone. The second is pure shit, very buggy and unbalanced.

I ve never heard of hecatomb also, but have fond memories of heretic and hexen.

Cool site, phelot. This is a favorite subject of mine. Here's a few similar sites:

Merida, again
Lots of interesting game concepts there that sadly never were. Sad times  . And God dammit...

That shit is like a mix of PS:T and Icewind Dale. I guess such a game would have been too hardcore for people.

Someone needs to make a thread about how awesome box art used to be.

Thanks Zeus, good sites, especially the one above.

I never knew they were working on a Young Bloods game! Too bad the poly count for Liefeld's "equipment packs" and muscles would have destroyed frame rate.
