So the gameplay video should be coming to day! I can't wait! It is evening in Bulgaria by now.

As Gollop comments on the campaign page:
Just heard that the game play video should be going live on IGN between 2pm and 4.30pm Pacific Standard Time. UnstableVoltage will be following up with some live streaming.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Make the Codex Great Again! Grab the Codex by the pussy Codex Year of the Donut Shadorwun: Hong Kong Divinity: Original Sin 2 Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
:killit:

I give up on "legendary" developers.

Edit:

Fucking shooting through walls just like nuXcom. Guess he copied everything.

Tactical game looks very good.

- deterministic hits, no dice rolls. big dmg modifiers for distance and cover
- vats style body part targeting
All shots hit only in this demo, they said they have not yet implemented hit chances or random damage.

This is insane to me, because they scale the damage by range and cover. That's the 'hard' part of the programming done already (I guess missing requires more animation?).

Anyway, watching this gameplay demo made me confident in my previous decision to not pledge. Looks like a complete nuxcom 2 ripoff. Targeting body parts seem pretty neat but it's not enough.

I like how overwatch uses Willpower and that is a finite resource that you need to recover by spending rounds not doing anything.

Pretty sure the shooting mechanics are a placeholder.
Yeah, like 'under construction' pages on a 90-ies/early 2000-ies website
:troll:

Seriously, why would they make an nuxcom clone if Firaxis already occupied that niche. Decliners gonna decline with their tabletop gaems, I guess

Because it is still a big market and nuXcom sold magnitudes more than Xenonauts.

Wot. I don't think running a static damage calculation on a what's effectively a hitscan weapon is harder than simulating an actual projectile.

It's a copy of nuXcom without motion capture cutscenes and shittier graphics. Meh. Even UI is the EXACT copy of firaxis. To the point of icons and button placement.

If they use premade-engine, it's not a problem since the physical part of it is already doing this job. You can just do with abstract cylinders of various heights for the representation of the combatants and obstacles, it'd work just fine, like it did back in the original game which ran on a Pentium-90 or worse CPUs. So it is just the matter of will - many players would shoot at the aliens (who are behind some cover / obstacles) with 95% accuracy and then whine that their shot was blocked by something despite being 95%

That is true, but iirc it was said earlier in this thread the devs decided against actual projectile simulation and was going to go for rules based hit%.

That was not said anywhere. What was actually said is that they currently are using % based system (with current version of the game having 100% hit chances for easier testing) while they are going to be implementing a ballistic system and testing it.

If it's all about money then we will never seen anything interesting again.

Now now, let's give Gollop the benefit of the doubt... Chaos Reborn was actually pretty close to the original if that is a sign for anything. The video could easily be something fastly made to get some attention.

It is. Placeholder UI, placeholder sounds, no hit chance.

And writing it is nuXcom ignores the fact in tactical combat there will be/is willpower, body parts targeting, large squads, vehicles..

Though I still expect "But really, what romans did for us except for those things? Nothing! It is nuxcom!". This is codex, outrage must flow. And apparently having 2AP system makes it all the same.

I think this will be plenty interesting. You are making wrong conclusions based on a video from a build that does not have half the features implemented and obviously you don't know shit about what Gollop said the full game will have.
And if you are just mad because graphics and UI are modern instead of like UFO or Xenonauts, well door out is that way ------------->
