Gabriela Kownacka, actress responsible for voices of Viconia and Fall-From-Grace in Polish versions of Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment, has died today after a six-year long fight with breast cancer, at age of 58.

Her seductive voice was responsible for wet dreams of many a Polish RPGamer from 1998 onward. Being theatrical, television and movie actress, she brought a large dose of professionalism and quality to the largely amateurish cast of first BG (it was the first game of this scale localised for Polish market), setting a standard for future releases.
She shall be remembered every time we hear 'Usstan zha dost'. Respect. :salute:

She played Viconia pretty badly. In English version Viconia sounds like a mean bitch and not seductively at all.

Polish version of Baldurs Gate is one of the few games that has good voice acting , and IMO even better than the original English version. It's a big incline.

Fronczewski beats the shit out of the crappy english narrator

Polish Sarevok has alot more deeper , evil voice than the english one.

Irenicus in PL sounds just superb, when i played the english one i was WTF what is this sound of a choking near-dead man and not a powerfull , intelligent mage in prime of his years.

Well, to be honest, not all voices are better - result of very small pool of voice actors in Poland back then. For example, Polish Minsc sucks balls (voice alone is okay-ish, but the actor is incompetent). Also, Thunder Hammer with his boyish lisp is laughable at best.
Most of the casting mistakes were corrected for BG2, though.

Precisely, DwarvenFood. I played The Witcher with the original Polish voices, and Gothic with the German voices.

Pollacks being delusional again, superior voice acting? Gotta be shitting me.
I've already seen morons claim that the VA in Polish Torment is better than the original. And then when you ask them if they've heard the original they go "well, no, but...".

Nope, all three examples sound shittier, especially Irenicus. Please take your nostalgia glasses off. :smug:

I thought girl drows were supposed to be mean bitches, specially to males.

That was his point, that the polack played it seductively and not mean bitchy.
