Yup, Shadow Hearts is awesome.

This chick reminds me of my tgirl pornstar friend from Boston. She'd always wear costumes like that for her photo shoots and her parties.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Much too easy compared to the older Castlevanias, but it has some serious C&C, and seems quite non-linear on the virgin playthrough, which is why it comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, + good atmosphere and great soundtrack.

Only must play on the system:
Tactics Ogre

Decent if you're bored enough:
Ogre Battle (better on SNES)
Front Mission 3
Vanguard Bandits (horrifying translation by working designs is unfortunate)
Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden(now in English due to fan translation, assuming you're emulating this stuff.)

And if you're desperate:
Vandal Hearts 1
Vandal Hearts 2 (use cheat code to enable the hard mode with better AI)
Brigandine (turn off battle animations)
Suikoden 1 and 2

Turn them on at least once when sending a ghoul to attack a winged dragon. The lulz is worth the 5 seconds.

SOTN I really enjoyed
Xenogears is worth a playthrough. Some cliches, but i really loved it at the time.
Vagrant Story is a game that I regret never playing

Somebody should do videoLP for the Hivemind.
One of the 1st rhythm-based games and one of the best too.
Bosses were more epic than Shadow of the Colossus -ones.

Fighting force :smug:
pfffft

Streets of Rage 3 is so much better

Agreed. Fighting Force seemed awesome to me when it came out, but nowadays it just looks like shit and plays really clunky. I'm better off with 2D beat'em-ups.

Darius Gaiden is a good 2D spaceship shooter, I have it on Saturn and I imagine the PSX version isn't much different. Nice to look at, fun to play.

Get Front Mission 3, it's one of the best games Square ever made.

Carnage Heart is probably very cheap, so try it, it's a game where you sort of program battle robots and then watch them fight. Some strategy involved too, I think (It's been a long time since I had a PSX)

Destruction Derby 2 is the best driving game I have played. I don't think there's any other game where you can finish first with one tire, steering with opening and closing the doors, just because everybody else is in even worse shape.

Get Bio Freaks if you have friends to play fighting games with, it's ridiculously gory and stupid in many ways. You can maneuver in a 3D-arena much better than any other fighting game I have played, it's fun to fly around trying to shoot your opponent, dodging bullets and trying to get to him. Not a great game so don't pay much for it, just fun to laugh at.

There's probably some good fighting games for the PSX too, Tekken, Street Fighter, Darkstalkers etc, but I wouldn't play them without a proper arcade stick. Come to think of it, neither would I play spaceship shooting games without one.

Have you tried the Strike series, there's at least one (Soviet Strike) on the PSX?

Return Fire, Mass Destruction. Eh. Games mentioned ITT.

Get a demo CD that has Psychon on it, it's a simple game where you shoot some guys.

Most other games I can think of, like Little Big Adventure, Crusader No Remorse etc. are also on PC.

I still have my copy of Nuclear Strike. Was pretty decent at the time, I could see a game like that not holding up at all, however.

90s 2d platformers are some of my fav. games (SNES, Genesis, PSX, Saturn, etc.) and here are some good ones not already mentioned:

Klonoa: Door to Phantomile
Strider
Tomba
Rayman
Pandemonium

Some other Misc. games that are fun:

Dino Crisis, and Harvest Moon - Back to Nature

Yeah, forgot Shadow of the Colossus. Still, be warned that it's one of the few games where I FELL ASLEEP while playing. The idea of having a vast empty land to transmit absolute loneliness works (I felt sad when
the horse falls on the river before the last colossus)
, but it also means you will spend a lot of time just navigating your horse through...well, a vast empty land. Some locations look nice, though.

edit: fuck me, that's for the PS2, not PSX :x

Try Hellnight if you want an horror game where the gameplay consists of running away and solving (simplistic) puzzles instead of killing tons of zombies. I think the game even had different paths depending on your partner or if there was one still alive.

hah, Hellnight, that one provided a few scares. Too bad there are so many horror games that focus on having you run away from monsters.
