River City Ransom sequel announced... by the original devs!?

It's even coming this summer.

While PC is snubed in the releasing, this is serious . Now they just have to translate Downtown Special, the previous Japan-only sequel (it takes place in feudal Japan and is less linear)

Miracle Kidz announced today that it is developing Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari 2 for release as a home console title this summer and as a PC online title in 2012.

Can't imagine playing something like this on a keyboard, thankfully I have a controller but I can only guess now the headaches some others will have. Still, awesome news. RCR was an all-time great, especially multiplayer. As was their rendition of Dodgeball.

RCR has already been remade AND retarded by indie devs Ska Software. Look up the Zombie Smashers X games for tons of stupid but fun kung-fu action with RPG elements.

i would rather have seen news about Gold Box remakes by the original devs, but this is A-OK too.

Quick check of the devs site has this

basic page which shows the artstyle is the same as the original but 16 bitish.

Fantastic news RCR is still one of my favorite games to play with or without friends and the GBA port was amazing.
