I was surprised I couldn't find a thread about this magazine on the prestigious Codex.

From the first issue:

Those old magazines were great. Sierra's InterAction was awesome, too. Full scans of all those are available here at Ken Williams' website.

This is great. Does anyone know when he started crediting On Stranger Tides as an influence? (Unless I'm blind, I'm not seeing it in that article, even though he specifically talks about reading books to develop the story.) I know he mentions OST in this blog post -- was it semi-confessional (i.e., "I'm sorry I've been failing to acknowledge this for all these years?"), or did finding the book jog his memory as to the real inspiration, or had he mentioned it before? No real reason for asking, just curious if anyone here knows the story.

First time I saw him reference it was about four or five years ago on his blog/website GrumpyGamer. Obviously he could have mentioned it sooner and I just didn't see it.

The blog post I linked to goes back a decade, which still puts it 14 years after he said that the main inspiration was the ride and didn't mention the book. Just kind of odd. I wonder if there was some kind of misplaced infringement concern hanging over it.
