I thought I had wanted this change but I don't. DU shows us the path to the light, praise him.
No, Black has a point, the previous system was fucking useless, I had to manually browse the metathreads I read.
No the previous system worked. It /was/ the middle ground.

That's what an extremist would say.

Why do you hate middle ground ident?

Insert clever insult here
I just got 107 notifications after being away from Codex for under two hours. WTF is going on? Each post in every thread that I watch now notifies me separately. This includes threads that I have stopped watching weeks/months ago.

How about if new alerts are only posted if the user doesn't have an alert for the same thread yet? So you won't get more than 1 alert per thread? Or maybe alierts could be an object with a lifecycle. Like it would say: "Thread x has 31 replies you haven't read, 12 since your last visit. You have 3 brofists and 2 quotes there, and 3 people you watch have commented there."

Isn't that how it used to be? I would get 1 alert for each thread/brofist/quote. That was nice except it often forgot about threads, as Black complained.

No, I meant that when your alert "died" without you checking it, you would get a new one when someone posted there, so you wouldn't forget about them.

Meh. I survived Morrowind's journal and U7's backpack. I can handle this.
