i think the magic compass helps anyone who doesn't like spending weeks in dungeons

rpgs should be 60% in towns conversing with NPCs and solving quests 30% travelling vast landscapes and 10% dunegons which should be small and manageable- who the fuck wants to play diablo anyway- dunegon grinding has nothing to do with RPGing anyway

the level scalling was a good idea that beth fucked up- however- they admitted they fucked up and will fix it for skyrim

the radiant AI- was hilarious- not because it was bad. it wasnt, but beth hyped the shit out of it and got burned- i didnt mind RAI, i just hope they can improve it

rapeing past lore isn't such a bad thing- TES lore is just repackaged D&D bullshit anyway- as long as there is a semi justifyable reason to change lore then no problem

the skill raping thats been going on however isn't good- they need to bring back more skiills

bethesda should look at what the modding scene has been doing and take a hint- companion mods are always top of the list- adding fleshed out companions can make a SHIT game playable (baldurs gate 2 anyone?)
the ruin tale companion mod was one of the finest peieces of modding i have ever scene- take a hint beth- the community loves that shit and it isnt that hard to do

my personal favourite thing to do in oblivion was to read journal entires and books that were sold in book stores- for example- the arena champions vampire father- his diary entry (you read after you have killed the vampire) excellent writing- now only if you could have found the diary before you entered the room and killed him- the one problem with beth games is they always solve everything with a cold steel- that quest could have been amazing if you could have found that diary and then had a choice of

a) kill vamp tell arena champ
b) find cure for vampire,, becomes human- reunited with son
b1) kill champ and his father for loot and evil badass ness
b2) arena champ retires, you become champ by default- with positive karma

Assuming this isn't a troll, I like when people confuse "what I think an RPG should be" with what an RPG actually is. Me, I think RPGs should be 72% kart racing against Mario characters, 8.4% fishing minigames, 2.5% Tower of Hanoi puzzles, 9.1% overly dramatised re-enactions of the court scene from To Kill a Mockingbird, 3% hot coffee minigames and 5% watching your character sleep.

Also, a quest compass is needed for everyone who deosn't want to spend weeks in a dungeon?
I don't remember any dungeon in Morrowind or Oblivion being so large you could get lost. Daggerfall's were, but a quest compass would only have been confusing in these dungeons because of the verticality. Also there were the mark and recall spells for those people who are lost and want to get out.
