Good Sir
howdy guize, just wanna throw this out there for you who got this game from either me or other places, found this tidbit some weeks ago but promptly forgot until today, when i restarted Yendor II.
I actually bought these games within the last 6 years (can’t remember exactly)FROM the company’s website. I’ve since had that particular hard drive crash on me, and I cannot recall if I received disks in the mail, or just downloaded from the site.
I first found out about these games from some shareware site, and absolutely fell in love with book 2 (i had never played the first top down game.) If you go to http://www.gamefaqs.com you will find that the shareware versions are the SAME as the FULL VERSION. I wrote a guide to help people give themselves any item and in doing so, found out how to get around the shareware limitation. really, the only thing blocking you from finishing the game is an extra line of code in the game which makes you stop at a certain point.
Using a hex editor, you can give yourself any item. and by giving yourself the correct item, you can bypass the spot that stops you (a key if i remember correctly) which will teleport you to a town full of skeletons if i remember correctly. This is exactly where that blocked portal would have dumped you out at. So I was able to enjoy the rest of that game, which made me finally purchase the games from the site. It’s sad that the site is gone now, as I would have loved to see if perhaps the game engine was available to purchase so that we could see some decent homebrew dungeon crawlers.

Thank you very much for posting this file. and if anyone wants to cheat a little and give yourself any item, then check my guide at gamefaqs. I painstakingly went through EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN GAME. Since some items caused the game to crash, I assure you it was a lengthy process. Keep in mind that this is for the second chapter, but I would assume that the hex info probably works for the third book as well. (though the items may be different, or there might be more.)
Hope this helps a few people enjoy this game a bit more. I would probably refrain from using the hex hack too early in your adventure, just so you dont spoil the game for yourself. If you need a little money, or some food, go for it, but leave the high power weapons for later on, or if you have problems, or are going for your second playthrough.
