So, regale us with a tale of your best gaming session, either as a player or as a narrator. When did it happen, what game system was it, and what made it so memorable.

For myself, my best session as a player was when I was playing an Ogre Mage warrior/mage in AD&D 2e: Ravenloft. My Ogre Mage had just descended a pit in mist form to investigate it. After a goodly amount of solo roleplaying between the DM and I, my character discovered a shaft in the pit with an eerie red glow emnating from within. Ignoring the warning hints from the DM (I was somewhat new to pnp rpgs at that time, but not to crpgs. In fact, it was my crpg experience that doomed my character, as in crpgs as you all well know one always investigates every nook and cranny for precious xp) my pc floated inside the shaft...only to be burned into nothingness from the fiery breath of a hellhound within! :(

I used to play with a bunch of goofballs, some of whom had a short attention span. One time while GMing a Shadowrun one off, I had the group so paranoid that while they were holed up in a house they shot a guy through the door. He'd just rang the bell to try and get them to take a survey, but they shot him without even opening it or seeing who it was or anything. This was doubly funny because, in their fear of everything, they'd forgotten that one of their members had ordered a courier pickup at the house.

There was some other silliness in that session such as when having a vehicle chase with the cops, a paranormal animal tamer (PC) decided that it was time to set all his animals free to return to the wild... from the back of the van involved in the high speed chase. The short version: the birds flew away, the rest of the critters went splat into the hood and windshield of the cop car. It wasn't quite the freedom he wanted for the animals, but it did help the team get away.
