Pixel Rage has posted a really positive review of Gothic 2, giving it a heaping helping of love and a 94% rating. It's a rather comprehensive look at the game, talking about the basic mechanics of the game, trainers, interaction with NPCs and the environment, and so on. Here's a peak:

Those of you who played the first Gothic know about all the stuff you really needn't do, but still did it just for the fun of it. For example when you kill certain animals, you can eat their meat and restore your health, or trade it, or even better, fry it and watch its restorative and commercial value increase. Not a very good way to restore your health, not a proficient way of getting money, but still I bet that, just like I did when I played Gothic 1, you fried a lot of meat, just for the fun of it. You also skinned animals and traded their furs and claws and teeth and whatever, you forged your own swords from raw steel, going through the whole process of molding the metal into a blade and sharpening it, then selling it for profit. You also drank and smoked, you slept and sat on stools, just for the fun of it, and it was good, it still is actually, because all of these things and even more are to be found in Gothic 2, thus creating a very credible atmosphere and adding a realistic touch to this fantasy role playing game.

Yeah, take that, PETA!
