Tags: Techland; Weird Wars: The Unknown Episode of World War IIPolish developer and publisher, Techland, has announced their new cRPG by the title of Weird War: The Unknown Episode of World War 2.
When I visited the game's website, I realised, that it's actually the same game as World Wide War 43 by Mirage Interactive and the Alien Artefact group, whom we interviewed some time ago, based on the engine of their previous WW2 cRPG, Another War. Strangely, there's no mention of neither Mirage, nor Artefact on Techland's website for the game.
After searching a bit more, i found out that the Polish publisher of this game is Cenega, and the game has already gone gold in Poland. I also found out that the game is actually based on (a sequel, to be precise) a classic Polish 1970s comedy movie - How I Unleashed World War 2 (a great one, too!). I was surprised to find it out, as it wasn't mentioned in any of the two official sites, and hyped as the most importand feature at the Polish publisher's site (not that strange, though, since both official sites are in English only - this IS weird, though). The game's title in Poland is also different - "Jak Rozpetalem Druga Wojne Swiatow±: Nieznane Przygody Franka Dolasa" (How I Unleashed World War 2: Unknown Adventures of Franek Dolas). Also, Marian Kociniak, who played Dolas in the movie, will also voice him in the game.
I'm a bit too confused to comment it all, so I'll just give you the box shot from the Polish version:
