RPG Vault have posted their first interview with Mirage Interactive's Pawel Kalinowski about Wierd War the upcoming World War II RPG from the far reaches of mysterious Poland.

We love role-playing games ever since they appeared on boards and computer screens. They are a method for escaping from reality and spending time with your friends. We always thought that the idea behind an RPG is not developing a new universe completely different from our reality, but on character development and observation, how these characters cope with new situations and skills (e.g. when fighting with new, stronger opponents), etc.

We always dreamed about an RPG that could be played by anyone - somebody who doesn't have a clue about dwarves, elves, orcs and fireballs. We wanted to convince those players that RPGs are not some kind of secret knowledge, but nice, intellectual entertainment. In order to reach that goal we had to locate the game in a universe that is familiar and easy to identify with for everyone.

The name is a play on words, but also the shortest description of the story background. The war in our game is not a realistic depiction of any known theatre of World War II. Weird War, with humor, tells a story of a war involving supernatural powers, crazy plans of the Nazis, very unusual characters and exotic locations.

Does that mean I can play as a Jewish wizard with a sassy black partner?
