Discworld posted a preview, which is actually more of an interview, of Spells of Gold, a game that's listed in our database as a role-playing game with strong trade influence, but according to the interview it’s a trading game – there are plenty of RPG elements there, but don’t be distracted by them.


The player starts in a fantasy town, with a map of the surrounding area, some cash, and that’s about it. But in the town there are shops, there are people who’ll give you missions and quests, and a bit of gossip. From their, it’s up to the player, whether you want to do work for other people or trade on your own account. Traveling around the world you workout what sells well where, what’s cheap where, who will pay for what to be done, and just when you’ve got the hang of one world you find a portal that allows you into another world... and then another, and another.…​
