Here's the press release, for good measure:
Project Three Interactive announced today that the highly anticipated fantasy RPG for PC ‘Kult: Heretic Kingdoms’ has completed development and will ship to retail stores around October 1st 2004 across Europe.
‘Kult: Heretic Kingdoms’ combines accessible hack & slash gameplay with an engaging adventure storyline, perfect for fans of the RPG genre. The game features game mechanics for healing and character customization that set the game apart from others in the genre – easy to learn, yet rewarding to master.
Project Three COO Erik Schreuder said: “We picked up this promising project about 10 months ago and have been very enthusiastic about the direction it has taken since. We are glad we have given the game the time it needed to mature and are now really proud of the final result. We are confident that RPG fans all over the world will really enjoy the game. I’d like to add that we are very pleased that we will simultaneously release the English, German, French, Spanish and Italian version at the same time.â€
Peter Nagy of 3D People added: “Thanks to the years of effort we put in, as well as the assistance by International Hobo and Project Three, I think we have succeeded in creating a really exciting new breed of RPG, mixing traditional elements with well thought out gameplay additions. I am really curious to hear the first feedback from the many RPG players out there.â€
Chris Bateman, MD of International Hobo is also pleased with the project. “There has been a decline in releases of computer RPGs, probably because of the expense involved in developing this style of game. However, the fanbase is still out there, and we hope we have designed and scripted a game that RPG fans will find refreshingly different.â€
'Kult: Heretic Kingdoms' Storyline
Set in the world of the Heretic Kingdoms, a world where God is dead and religion heresy, you are cast as a young female inquisitor, working to stamp out the last remnants of religion. On instructions to destroy a relic the Inquisition considers a significant threat, you are drawn into a conflict between two warring secret societies - a conspiracy of mages whose goal is true power and a shadowy cult who seeks to resurrect the Dead God.
As the story progresses, you will be placed in an amoral world and left to decide your own morality. Just like the real world, your actions have consequences and it is up to you to decide if you can live with them or not. Play as an altruistic heroine, a vicious and selfish egotist or just a woman trying to get her job done - your actions will lead you to one of six different endings depending on where you decide your loyalties lie. Will you crush religion underfoot or become its saviour? Only you can decide.I can't wait!
