These guys are the pushers of fringe science. Mystical sciences that seem far out and away from our capabilities like particle acceleration and cold fusion make this serious bunch all warm and squishy. This propensity for pushing the edge of technology and what's available pushes them towards finding ways of controlling demons and even becoming like them in order to defeat them. With the appearance of the demons and their control of powerful forces, the cabalists saw an opportunity to blend their own high technology with the more arcane forces of the demons....
