Mummy's Mask is extremely "meh" after a great first book. It's pure dungeon crawl. Also book 3 is all about humoring an obese bureaucrat lady that's in love with a random PC so she'll let you in a library. Yes: Really. This isn't a one time thing either, you have to compete in her various games to keep her favor.

It's going to be their IWD after their "BG".
Dude, that sounds fantastic! I really hope Owlcat's next game is a Icewind Dale like! That would blow me away!

While Curse of the Crimson Throne is visible, that's mostly due to the fact that it and Rise of the Runelords are the only two collected as a hardcover.

Perhaps it's apophenia, but this looks a bit similar, doesn't it?

I kinda wish for more Sci-fi as well but since they seem to be great fans of the Pathfinder IP, kinda hope they stick to doing more Pathfinder stuff since they seem to know a lot about it. So just more adventures in different locations of the world with more polish will be pretty sweet.

Better animations, more feats, and more classes is all I need, and I'll be a happy camper!

Even if they wanted a linear dungeon crawl, there's better APs to do it with. Rise of the Runelords being the most obvious.

The Mummy's Mask dungeon crawls really aren't anything spectacular.

I dm'd a MM campaign and had to spice the dungeons up a lot. Most of the traps were very predictable, and most of the encounters are quite poor straight out the book.

Strange Aeons ironically has much better dungeon crawling, despite not really being a dungeon crawl focused AP.

Owlcat being some sort of Russian superteam that have been created with the sole purpose to destroy Josh Sawyer's soul could be one of the best storylines in the gaming industry since Grimoire.

In 2018, they took away Sawyer's dream to succeed BG.

In 2021, they will take away Sawyer's history when they take the throne from IWD.

In 2023, they will crush Sawyer's very own creation by gaining ownership of PoE.

And doing nothing with it.

I almost feel sorry for Sawyer. But at least he's honest about how dumb he is. When he said that he doesn't know why POE wasn't a massive success - or whatever. Probably not a great idea to show that you lack the critical insight to evaluate why something you created didn't do well.

But at least he admitted that he knows what he doesn't know.

The first Pillars of Eternity sold better than Kingmaker. I'd recommend you wait and see how their sequel does before putting them mentally on the same level as Larian Studios
Well, since Owlcats are based in Russia, where the salaries and office rent etc are way lower than in California, Deadfire-level sales or even considerably lower ones would still be a success for them from the financial point of view.

Whoa there buddy, unless you have access to specific figures, you're just as clueless as the rest of us. Pathfinder: Kingmaker sold enough units to warrant an enhanced edition, a sequel, and a year long support of bug fixes.

Now seriously I love kingmaker too but I'm wary of thinking the world is a fair place.

As I said earlier. No one knows exactly how many units Kingmaker sold, it sold enough. In the end that's all that matters to me.
