JON HARE FOR PRESIDENT

Mass Effect is a badly executed FPS

I can understand why Call of Duty is so popular, it is mindless fun for half an hour

Nice. But with an attitude like this, he will never sell any games of his. This is what it has come to, already.

Matt Chat is the only "show" on youtube worth watching.

He has over a hundred episodes or something. Someone should make a list of the best episodes to watch.

Real Codexians watch them all. I, however, got bored when he started doing interviews all the time. This one seems pretty good though.

Implying he has good intentions. Todd Howard recently said few bad things about Oblivion too. For the sake of Skyrim.

It might be a syndrome: "NOW it will be better! Forget the past!" And nothing happens - same shit.
Did you understand what his new game will be about? Because I don't. If he'd be insincere he'd present his game idea in one sentence, that would explain like what other popular game it is.
It sounds like they want to make something complex which wasn't done before.

More like from capitalism and wanting the highest profits possible at the least cost.

The reptilians want to make humans as stupid as humanly possible.

Fluoride, excitotoxins, mercury, mobile phones - it's all there to turn human brains (pineal glands) into shit.

Stupid, docile, easy to control.

His game sounded like casual puzzle shit, but it seems pretty apparent that casual is what he is going for to obtain commercial success.

Yes. Still it's hard to be innovative when not doing casual puzzle shit.

This is actually a question he left unanswered. If he can say what a game designer isn't, then what does constitute one? I get the sense he means that a game designer has to be able to understand and look at more than just, say, level design, or has to be able to come up with more than just one or two ideas, but it'd be nice if he had clarified. As it stands I think it's good to have specialists in the industry; level design in particular is a valuable skill and not necessarily something that anyone can do well. Maybe in the next episode.

Also: what's wrong with making casual puzzle games? At least he's trying something different and doing what he wants. From the sound of it this is an idea he's had for a long while and it isn't just being churned out in a month to make a quick buck. I don't think he's the kind of designer who thinks in terms of genre and whatnot - he comes up with ideas and rather than trying to pigeonhole them into certain frameworks, he tries to see where they logically progress and move to. To me it sounds a lot more like the Japanese/Nintendo approach to game design.

Yeah, although I agree with him, doing a casual "crossword/educational" game is not helping...and looking with today standads, his previous game feels quite "casual" too.

But at least his games are not ANOTHER random FPS/"Action-RPG" game made by bad counter-strike modders who are now "developers". He may not be revolutionazing anything, but at least is trying something new.

You know i`d rather we had more "innovative" casual games than Fag Age 3 and other bullshit that we get these days.

What a shit, made-up label to use it is - "casual". What the fuck? I do understand that some slow and easy puzzle games should be called that but any arcade-y or lower budget or 2D game gets called "casual" these days. That's completely fucking retarded. I actually see people calling games like Super meat boy "casual".

Stopped caring there.
SWOS was a cute little game. Much less sophisticated and pretty than the fifas of its time, but hell was it fun.
The same goes with Cannon Fodder.

oh, 1eyedking. forgot i've said anything then

I thought it a little funny when he was talking about employees in the expanded company not pulling their weight by working late as much as others - yet he forgets that regular employees not invested in the company have little incentive to do so.

A very interesting episode still.
