NWN was nice for trying various dnd-builds. Even OC was good for that if nothing else. And there were mods.

For me vanilla NWN was actually one of the very worst games ever released (of course only counting the ones I played). I get physically sick just thinking about it.

It's better then NWN2 though, not counting MotB.

I have a copy of NWN Diamond I think, that I borrowed form a friend, sitting around here somewhere. I'll probably try it out again just for the mods once I'm done with New Vegas and possibly Fable 3 (depending on when the PC release is). Any other really good mods besides the Premium ones or whatever they are and Daggerford? I saw a Dance with Rouges mentioned but I've heard mixed things about it in the past. Not that it will kill me to spend 30 seconds downloading it to find out for myself.

A Dance with Rogues is horrible, horrible pornfic nonsense. The rape is not tasteful. At one point, you get to watch for 10 minutes while your character stands in a slave cage and the slavemaster occasionally (very occasionally) tells people to buy her. 10 minutes. I counted.

Also, we have "what nwn modules are good lol" threads every few weeks, do a search for Daggerford or whatever and plenty of them should pop up. I had a list I regurgitated a few times a while back.

I still have to play ADWR some day, but not so soon. I just finished Oblivion and I don't need punishment for a few months.

I notice the version of NWN being sold only contains ONE of the first ever payware DLC modules "Kingmaker" and not the rest even though bioware discontinued selling them.
Couldnt GoG reach an agreement whenupon EA/Bioware could have included the modules without the phone home drm since the servers for them nolonger are online.

What, you think I'm joking? imagine boiling with fever, hallucinating to fuck knows what while this fucking horror (0:07 to 0:17) plays. ONLY these 10 seconds, looping over and over and over. I don't know how I managed to maintain my sanity.

That may rest entirely with Atari actually. Kingmaker was always part of the Diamond edition but the others premiums were discontinued by Atari for some obscure reason (it is Atari after all) and the servers switched off. It may simply be that Atari allowed GOG to distribute the Diamond edition, but the premiums involve different rights that Atari don't want to relinquish.

Seconded. But you got pretty far it seems. I couldn't bear it for more than 5 minutes.

Every time I read "NWN" I think it says "never mind", for some reason.

I think I'm not that far off, actually. :smug:

The first one seemed like it could be interesting once you got through the test/trial shit. Then it ended.
The second one (the one with said slave bit) was too boring to even be funny. There was a lot of shit like that.

I actually finished ADWR. Both of them.

...

I don't know why I did that, either.

I played ADWR for a few hours, but it's poorly balanced, poorly paced, and the writing is mediocre. Still haven't tried Darkness over Daggerford, but hopefully that'll be better, being a professionally published module.

Uh both NWNs OCs were horrible hiorrible and even more horrible. But I liked using some spells and testing my character builds so it wasnt that hopeless.

Don't pretend NWN2's OC was anywhere near as bad as NWN1's. I'm not saying it was great or anything, but there was pretty much nothing good in NWN1's OC where NWN2 at least had some decent scenes, better writing, and a somewhat interesting villain.

They were equal. they were average RPGs. And, NWN2 certainly didn't have better writing or 'more inetresting villain'. L0LZ

Still regret playing that shit. Yes even Hotu, though my little powergamer hearth was fond of the late game forge where you could craft hideously overpowered acid +5 swords.

I know better than to bother being drawn into argument with you, Volourn.
