  1. Review Titan Quest okay to GameSpot

I haven't played the game yet, but there is a fine line between an opportunity to get back a couple of misallocated skillpoints, and a copout for an imbalanced and obscure skill system where mistakes only become apparent when it's far too late or impossible to fix them or to restart with a new...
  2. Review SA trashes Oblivion Radiant AI

That's what beth deserves afteyr hyping the daylight of the Retarded Intelligence. Gothic may have had scripted NPC routines, but at least they were much more convincing than what Oblivion's npcs do at the moment. Beth is in the right direction with RAI, but needs way more tweaking to look good.
  3. Review Oblivion review at AG.ru - 79%

To tell the truth, I was never bothered by plain merchants not buying stolen loot simply becase I sell all loot to fences. All guild fences accept every single 'sellable' item in the game, and they are not short on cash. It's less of a hassle to fast-travel to the nearest fence or Thoronir...
  4. Editorial Oblivion article at NY Times

I'd rather be playing Oblivion. Unless you play the same MMO for several hours a day, every day, you won't have any accomplishments to share at all.
  5. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

Level scaling works great if done right. Oblivion's implementation of level scaling would be OK for Dungeon Lords, but not for the most anticipated (and now one of the greatest letdowns) games of 2006.
  6. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

Well, I can now safely conclude that a magic-free warrior just isn't a viable char in the long run w/o rebalancing mods. Blank weapons just don't do enough damage, and only silver weapons can harm a certain number of enemies. For the record my char is lvl15. After getting the recommendations...
  7. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

My guess would be that they assumed casual gamers would not play far enough to run into those scaling problems (i.e. bandits in daedric armor) :). At least, that would explain why so many reviews never picked up on it. Up until level 6 or 8, the scaling system works OK. Insanity starts after...
  8. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

Kvatch IS hard when you go in at level 10 or above. My lvl11 warrior char would not have survived it if it wasn't for a truckload of potions. At least that's the case without properly enchanted weapons (frost for fire atronachs and shock for scamps, clannfears, and various species of...
  9. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

OMGWTF?!!!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Morrowind have fewer than half a dozen complete daedric armor sets? Glass armor was rare enough to only form about a dozen complete sets. Unfortunately, I heard about people on official forums encountering highwaymen decked out in daedric armor...
  10. Review Computer Games disappointed with Oblivion

I wholeheartedly concur with the compaints regarding the 'balancing' system. I decided to restart a lvl13 fighter because of a few mistakes in skill choices, which made my char fall behind the scaling curve. After suffering horribly in the first Oblivion gate, I decided to cut my losses and...
  11. Review Oblivion scores 77%

Personally, having all cities unlocked for fast travel the moment you leave the tutorial alone should reduce the final score by at least 10%. That totally hosed the entire experience of exploring the game world.
  12. Oblivion Hate- From an industry "insider"

"*A visual triumph/technical achievement. " Visual achievement, yes. Technical achievement? No.
  13. Use based system vs. XP based ones

I prefer the XP based systems. For use-based fun, I'd rather go to the gym.
  14. Preview Oblivion preview & shitstorm at Wired Blog

The only part that really bothers me is the compaint about performance. Game Presstitutes tend to ignore performance issues - unless it's <20fps on a top of the line box. Seeing how xbox can dance in circles around the vast majority of PCs, it doesn't sound good for us PC gamers.
  15. Game News Oblivion mage quests (highly intricate stuff)

    A ripoff of Gothic, anyone?
